Aftermarket Flip Key...

SO i bought the flip key from eBay, seller artiway, and got it in yesterday. Its pretty neat if its your kinda silly mod. It took me about 5 minutes to program the new one. Getting it cut was another story. I had to take the key part off to get it cut. There were two little screws holdng it on, you can kinda see them in the pictures below. Anyways, if anyone has considered it, I think its a pretty good deal. The only thing im not 100% on is the key droops just a bit when the unit is held with the key facing down, but other than that, overall quality is good.

And here, if you can make it out(iphone pictures), is one of the tiny screws you need to take out to get the key off. The other screw is on the direct opposite:

i took mine down to the local hardware store, they didn't have to take it apart to cut. Plus they didn't even charge me at all. Ive had mine for about a year now, still works, but im noticing the battery is already getting weak. im losing my range on the keyless entry. I guess i will have to see if i can change the battery.

I had one for a while now. It worked great for a while. Has useless range. Every month or two it loses it's programming or something so it won't unlock the doors and I have to reprogram it. The paint has worn off the symbols. It goes through batteries way to often. It's now gone in the garbage. You get what you pay for.

Yeah, Loctite those little screws. My flip key has been great since I got it and range is the same as my OEM fob and the Fusion key. Also want to add that the first time I had mine cut, the hardware store effed it up. I contacted the eBay seller and he sent me two blank keys for free. The 2nd time around I went to a locksmith and he did it right the first time.

Sure its a silly mod but that flip key fits perfectly in the little change pocket in my jeans!

Yeah, i was really worried that they might screw it up when i got mine cut, but luckily the didn't. And I agree, its silly, but I was able to consolidate my key ring to 4 keys and my new flip, fits perfect.... and its cool too! ha

You probably had the screw that holds both halves together too tight. I read all over about this and sure enough I tightened it too tight and it compressed the buttons and would make it super easy to activate.

I loosened it and have had no problems since. I have great range, just as stock if not even better.

I am trying to find the OEM 2011 integrated key/fob. My dad just got a new 2011 XLT Screw, and I can't find a part number on that key for anything.
