EcoBoost Mileage
I took my new EcoBoost powered FX4 on a short, 200 mile road trip this past weekend. The route was probably 50% highway with speeds varying from 45 to 65 with the occasional hill. I ended up averaging 18.6 mpg based on the on board computer. I haven't gone through a full tank of gas yet to determine how accurate the computer is, though.
Just thought you guys would like a little more information on "real world" mpg numbers.

I consistently get 18.5 - 20 give or take a few points city/local
and 20 - 23 highway at 65 - 68mph. Hand calculated, the computer is always pretty close, within .1 to .5 mpg
supercab 4X2 18" wheels, 3.15 rears
Now don't expect the same out of a 4X4 crewcab, with a heavy foot behind the wheel! I will admit with fuel prices the way they are I work for these results! I don't care who beats me to the next light or stop sign, I will beep and wave when they stop for fuel!

This exactly matches what I've been getting in my identically-equipped unit. And it definitely "likes" to go around 65.

And it sure is a sweet truck to drive. Took mine from Fl to Pa and back, 1100 miles each way. Like traveling in a Lincoln and the worst mileage reading I seen on the dash meter was 18.2 pulling a 15 mile hill in the blue ridge mountains. Overall averaged between 21 and 23 depending on which leg of the trip.

Thanks for all the info and updates folks. I'm liking what I'm reading so far.
Anybody got highway MPG numbers for driving 70-75mph?
I saw an article on AutoBlog.com today that they had hypermiled an Ecoboost and gotten up to 30mpg!
I don't see myself doing these sorts of things nor driving 65-70mph when the highway limit is 70 and most do 80. So to me 70-75 ratings would be what I'd like to see.
Thanks again!

The laws of physics are the laws of physics- they don't even bend for the highest paying advertiser. IMHO, we're reaching the peak in truck fuel economy with the EB technology. But in the end, it all still grinds down physics- to move 6,000 pounds, you need power. And power requires fuel. Plus the faster you go, the amount of power to overcome wind resistance needs to multiply by four IIRC. I'd believe 25mpg- and that's driving like your setting a world record of pissing off the most motorists in day. 30 needs to take a hike
