Big Smokey - My BRAKE CONTROLLER came with my NEW 2010 F150 FX4 OFF ROAD package... Had it since FEB but just now hooking up my trailer and found it doesnt work... I will have to take it back to FORD and let them tell me its working fine must be your trailer routine... I was trying to cover all grounds before I went down to see them about it.
What I learned today was I can GET FULL DC VOLTAGE +10VDC in MANUAL SLIDE MODE but can only GET +1.2VDC in BRAKE PEDAL MODE... The DASH DISPLAY SHOW a full GRAPHIC VOLTAGE BAR DISPLAY in both modes. SO me gots alittle more info to pass along to FORD now after all of this. That kinda tells me the CONTROLLER is BAD... The only way I 1.2VDC was to MAX OUT the MANUAL SETTING to 10 VDC setting.
I also learned that the TRAILER NEEDS to PROVIDE a +12VDC signal to PIN 4 of the TRAILER CONNECTOR which I guess tells the BRAKE CONTROLLER that it is CONNECTED. I couldnt see a BRAKE CONTROLLER DISPLAY in the information window until I turned this on in my TRAILER. My TRAILER BATTERIES have a DISCONNECT SWITCH and I didnt know I was suppose to provide DC VOLTAGE from the TRAILER SIDE untill talking with PT on here saying he fixed his with same problem by finding a BLOWN FUSE in this circuit on the trailer side. Mine has a 30A FUSE in the line going back to the BLACK wire (PIN4) of the trailer connector...
I have noticed something else too - I see a FUSE LABELED in the FORD F150 USER MANUAL for TOW BATTERY CHARGE or something like that. There is NO FUSE in that slot... I guess that allows the TRUCK SYSTEM to CHARGE the TOW BATTERY if you need that ???
I spent all afternoon putting back all my wiring I pulled down to look at everything in the POPUP... It is pretty much back together now... Sure has been a fun adventurerand I am still waiting for the FAT LADY to sing me a song......
