Thumbs down shady dealer...

Hey all, bought a 2011 F150 Lariat 4x4 with most of the goodies back in March from a "certain" dealer in Long Island NY.Upon delivery I never received any contract paperwork until 6 days later when returning to said dealer for running board install.I had to ASK in which they claim they gave it to me already while it was in their desk drawer the whole time hmnnnn.Anyway, found that their was a $2050 "dealer services charge" on the contract with no specifics or breakdown on the dealer services actually are.Talked to the owner 3 times about this(hes the one who actually sold me the truck) and he tells me that is for the running boards($900+2 hours labor$119 each-ouch-was under impression that these were being thrown in the deal at signing).WTF happened to the other $900+??,well he then tells me that is for his "overhead" which isn't a dealer service,GAP ins. which I don't have or in contract,VIN etching which truck doesn't have, fee for a better interest rate on loan(bull*****) in which I already have an 748 score(769 other scores) and finally a pickup fee in which truck was acquired from PA 123 miles away in which they offered(was walking out the door when found out they had no Lariat stock)),not by my asking.

Well all I can say is that I hope you really learned something from this. With any deal of this magnitude always read and sign everything before you take possession of the product. Should've done all the paperwork beforehand and you could've avoided all the surprise. At least you enjoy it.

I agree that you should have probably been a little more on your toes, but you should also share the dealer name with us so we know who to look out for. If they screwed you and you're simply telling your side of the story, or opinion, then no harm but you can save our community from a little future grief possibly.

Was this Northport or Smithtown Ford? Both of them tried to mess with me, took my business upstate and no issues. Unfortunately I have to use the local places for service though. The owner of Northport was a real scumbag!!!

Find a lawyer who will consult you for a minimal flat fee and talk to that person about it. They'll advise you of your true situation and options. Anything else is just opinion.

Northport Ford and yes the owner is a real scumbag with lies and bull**** all over the place.Promises you everything then underhandley nickel and dimes you once you sign.@ Reverenj, didn't get paperwork until 6 days later as I stated before and it was NEVER stated specifically or mentioned until but it was charged.@ Sharper4,you are right in that I should've scrutinized more and I will next time, but I never thought he'd be charging for nonsense.

Could be fraud, but like other poster said, consult an attorney for best options.

Even if fraud, you still yourself, have a duty to not be a stupid consumer . . .

Definitely report them to the Better Business Bureau so others are aware of this business.

I don't know what kind of running boards you got, but running boards from Ford can MSRP very high. The chrome ones from Ford are over $1000 PER SIDE on a crewcab plus hardware. The cheapest plastic ones are just over $1000 for the pair. Then of course there is parts and labor.

At worst he is undercharging you at $2050 and at best you are really only out only a little under a $1000.

Ahh, sorry, but only a stupid consumer would "take delivery" of a truck, and drive it home, without also taking/seeing the paperwork first. And, then complain about it later.

I do wish you good luck and I hope you can work it out, but look in the mirror too, please.

        Sorry.
