Ordering a truck question

For an exact answer, just ask the dealer you are ordering from.
But with my experience, I ordered a new mustang a few years ago. When it came in, I was able to do a trade with no issues. So I assume, there shouldn't be a problem in your case.
The only bad thing about ordering (other than the wait), is you have no idea what incentives will be available when the truck comes in and is ready to be signed in your name. With the high gas prices though, I'd imagine Ford will have good incentives for quite awhile longer. Hope this helps.

You can do a trade on an order. The only difference on an order is that you have to wait for the truck. Some dealers say they'll honor the incentive available when you order, others honor the incentives available when you sign the final deal, and others will give you the best of the two.
I did pay a small premium for my truck over a somewhat comparable truck on the lot (about $800), but the dealer was honest and told me he would give me a better deal if I took one off the lot. I wanted a very specific truck, so I ordered anyway.
Do yourself a favor - go to www.fordvehicles.com and request a brochure on the 2011 F-150. The brochure will include a 'private' $750 coupon. And yes you can use the coupon on an ordered truck - I just did!

1) You can do a trade on an ordered vehicle and drive it around while you wait for the order to come in.
2) You can normally try to sell your trade while you wait for the ordered vehicle but remember the break even with the dealer is what they are giving you for the trade plus your local sales tax rate that would be credited on your new ordered vehicle.
3) Get your dealer to lock in whatever incentives are available at the time of the order. If better incentives come along, you can take those but if worse incentives come along, your locked your incentives in and that's a good thing.
