3.7 MPG real life #s

Seems like all the MPG numbers are for the ecoboost 6 or the 5.0 8
I am after real life MPG numbers for a 2011 f150 Reg. cab , 8 ft. bed, 3.77 rear end, 6 speed , 4 X 4 with the 3.7 v6. Someone must have one on the road. I have a lot of driving to do.

There are a couple threads kicking around with some mpg info. Give the search feature a try, in the upper right hand corner of this page.

I have a 3.7 V6, 4X4, 3.73 rear gears, regular cab, but I've got the 6.5 bed length.

I got the truck in Feb. My first fill up was 18mpg. It was 19mpg for a few months. For the first couple weeks of May it was up to 20mpg. The past couple weeks it's been 21mpg.

I don't do a lot of driving. I've had to drive like a grandpa to get this kind of mileage. If you don't drive like you want good mpg's, you aren't going to get good mpg's. If I drove my truck like I drove my trucks in thepast, I'd expect to get 15-16 mpg.

If you can keep the rpms under 2k, you can get good mpg's.

New to this forum, but not forums. Used search while lurking the past few months and have read your posts. Thanks by the way, good info. This is the truck I order to replace my 2004. I am from eastern MA your from western MA. I drive north to ME every other weekend. 600 miles round trip, the old 150 was killing me on gas. 20 MPG would save me $ 100 a month. Thanks again wittom.

Yeah, it seems like I'm the one talking about this 3.7. I was without an F150 for a few years so I didn't have much to contribute. Now that I'm back in one I can't stop talking!

If you've got the 3.73 gears, which I think is what is standard for the V6, 4X4, it might take your whole 600mi trip to net good fuel economy. I find that on the highway the mpg's drop. This is with cruise at 70 or so. Over time, with miles accrued, the mpgs slowly tick up. For the sake of mpg's 3.55's would have been a better choice on this truck.

Where you going up in Maine, Presque Isle area?

My wife and I would like to hike Mt. Katahdin in the next couple years. I guess that's a haul too.

I've found this 2011 F150 to be a good truck. I think you'll be happy with yours.

Saint Albans, I have a new home to retire to in a few years. 250 miles each way and I do at least 100 miles while I am up. Have sledded northern and central ME for 25 years. Did the loop trail around Katahdin on my sled 2 seasons ago. We have the same birthday, just 20 years apart.

Westwood. I do tow sleds once in a while or my 4 wheeler, so I hope the 3.73 set up will do the trick.

Are these the numbers as displayed by your dash, or actual pen to paper calculations.......

Both. Every time I fill up I write the milage on my recipt. I write what the onboard mpg's say. I do the old school math and write that number down. I will save all of the recipts with this info in the truck.

Untill today the onboard mpg readout has been very accurate. Today was the first time that there was a significant discrepancy. The onboard display read 21.3. The old school math read 22.5.

Yeah, Katahdin seems like a haul from MA. The Presidentials in NH are up there but there are highways to get you to them. I guess your base in Maine isn't so far from Katahdin. That's got to be spectacular in winter.

Same birthday? So your about to hit a milestone? I'm about to hit the point where I definitely can't call myself a kid anymore.
