I'm sure Ford doesn't make the hose you're needing.

Did the dealership provide you a rental?


In the hinge there's a torsion bar that assists in closing. I remember hearing when the 04's came out the tailgate weighed something stupid like 60 pounds.

 

Yeah I have premium esp so I have a rental for 10 days but I don't know what will happen once I run through those 10 days.

 

Tell 'em you're keeping the rental as long as yours is in the shop.

 

 

Cant they just steal one from a F150 sitting on the lot? I mean i am sure there is one that has been on the lost awhile. Also cant a hose be made? It would seem just get proper diameter hose from advance auto and fittings and there you go!

I wish they would get the part from a truck off the lot or could do that but I think thats highly unlikely. The hose is a high pressure line which goes from a bent pipe almost like fuel lines to rubber back to bent pipe with odd couplings, so making one doesnt seem likely.

 

Tell them they have a whole parking lot full of parts, if they wont pay for the rental!

 

If it gets to the end of your 10 days, you might have to squak, and bit*ch and squak some more to get them to pull one off a truck on the lot, but with the right amount of complaining, and if you press the issue, and keep going up the chain of command within the dealership, you should most likely get them to pull one off a stock truck. If nothin else, just to shut you up...... Seen it, done it, suggest it to others.

As far as them going out to another source to get a hose made, it is easily possible, but FORD won't pay for that option. Nor will they warranty it after the fact. You would be on your own for that bill

Squeaky wheel gets the grease.... and a new hose off the lot.

 

New trucks don't have a power steering hose unless it's a 6.2 engine.

Dealership called today to say the part won't be available till late July. I absolutely lost it, I have put a call into Ford and I'm currently waiting on a reply. I have never heard of such a thing!

i had this same hose replaced. about three months ago. or so. possibly a bit longer you know how time flies.. ordered around 10am on a thurs.. and it was here the next morning.

came out of chicago parts supply. down to geneseo il. about a 2.5hr drive direct. im sure the parts truck stopped along the way. i cant belive this part would be that hard to get. ? crazy.. good luck.
