I did the same, except traded an 04 5.4L FX4 for the EB. It runs circles around the old truck, some of which I'm sure is due to the 6 speed trans as well.

I test drove both the EcoBoost and the 5.0 in the F-150's today. Both 4X4 Supercabs 3.55 gears for the EcoBoost and 3.73 gears for the 5.0.I really liked the EcoBoost man what a powerhouse it broke the rear tires loose when i got on it between the 1st and 2nd gearshift.I then drove the 5.0 what a dissapointment IMO.I didn't rev the crap out of it maybe that's why i was dissapointed in it?I could be crazy but i think my 4.6 3V had just about as much low end power as the 5.0.IMO,i got back in my truck on the way home and thought to my self my 4.6 ran just about as good.

The only changes from the 5.0 mustang to the 5.0 f150 are heads(possibly just thicker head gasket) and exhaust manifolds instead of headers. The f150 5.0's lower compression should make it respond to forced induction better than the mustang, a blower on the 5.0 btw more than matches the ecoboost with an exhaust. If you are looking at spending the money to make big power the 5.0 is a better choice than the ecoboost. There are mustang guys running over 700hp on stock internals and not having problems, the biggest roadblock for the sho guys seems to be the fuel system, from what I have read the DI pump is only good to about 450hp.
The 5.0 has a weaker drive train attached to it compared to the Ecoboost is a better platform.

The mustang has hotter cams and the higher compression actually helps hp numbers when boosting. That is why it takes 20+lbs of boost on low compression cars to match high compression cars with 8lbs.

Also the mustang and f150 have the same cams they are just timed differently in the tune, and how do you figure the Ecoboost drive train is any stronger than the identical drive train of the 5.0?
