I'm surprised the numbers aren't higher. I'm betting the main reason is that the dealers keep ordering 5.0's. I do a truck search and there are 40+ 5.0's in fx4 combo's I like. Then only 1-2 EB's and their usually already spoken for.
Tough to beat 40ft-lb and 5hp more while getting the same fuel economy as a 5.0.

I know that many truck buyers are going to want the V8 becasue of it's nice sound and good low end grunt. I've opted for the base V6. I've had the truck for about four months now. I've put about 2800mi on it so far. It's got the power of the base V8 from a couple years back. It's getting decent mpg's. I got 22.5 at my last fill up. I would love to have more power but using it burns a lot of fuel. In order to justify, to myself, trading my '07 Edge for this truck, I told myself that I needed to get similar mpg's. I am. Very similar.
I've got too many things that I want to spend money on. I'm tired of spending so much on fuel. This base V6 has got enough pep to keep my right foot happy, while at the same time, has the ability to get respectable mpg numbers. I guess if people don't mind spending so much for fuel, the V8 is a great option. It's nice to have a decent base V6 for thoes of us who want the capabilities of a truck, but not the typical fuel economy of one.

*My first car was a '72 GTO, I've owned 3 5.4L F-150s, and a V8 Porsche. I grew up loving V8s and though I would drive nothing else. I was wrong, the EB is really that good. Plus I get 3+MPG than I ever got from a 5.4 and have more fun doing it.

People are choosing the 5.0L because of the relative simplicity compared to the EB, which means more uncertain reliability. The EB has some delay, throttle lag below 1500rpm which is where many people always drive. It isn't perfect, but a great start.

The EB has something like 100lb-ft more torque at 2000rpm than the 5.0L. Way more low end torque when on boost.

Id get a 5.0L over the 3.5L anyday. You can't mod the Ecoboost without putting a lighter to the warranty. I can easily get more out of the 5.0L with some mods, scratch my modification itch by doing it, not void the warranty, get the great sound of the 5.0L V8 and only sacrifice about 1 MPG from what I have been researching...yeah, its a no brainer.

Gonna take a Blower for the 5.0 to match the EB's 403 hp with just a catback. Most naturally aspirated tunes net 30 hp with exhaust. When you tune a 5.0 you are now tapping into the computer and Ford can tell. I've only seen 5star gain 20 or so hp? Who else is making big numbers? Not arguing, just curious. With the EB's catback, just change it back to stock and no worries on warranty.
