Sure is a big problem out there.
Lot's of cat's getting ripped off too... they sell them for 300 to 400 bucks.
New ones are 800 to 1200

 

That sucks and I also can't believe why someone would take any flak for suggesting that the tailgate should lock/unlock with the keyfob. I think it should work that way too and was surprised it didn't. I have the backup camera so it's not like there isn't power going back there anyway.

if someone is gonna sue ford for not having a lock and unlock for the tail gate on the fob, just because they werent smart enough to use their key and lock it, they would have to be the dumbest person on the face of the earth.

 

I don't know if they still make it but pace Edwards had an electric tailgate lock that mounted inside the gate. I put one on my truck and wired it to the rear doors. Works perfect. Been on there since new in 05. Never forget to lock it now.

 

Happens all the time. Especially the ones with rear view cameras and tailgate steps.

 

Dude, this sucks. Sorry to hear about your bad luck. I just installed a $6 actuator (from eBay) on my tailgate about a week ago and now my tailgate locks with the keyless fob.

I totally agree ... $30+k for a truck and they skimped on a $6 actuator; it doesn't make sense.

FYI - It took about 2 hours to install. Easy but time consuming.
