I do have some info for you:

Search eBay for "12V Universal 2 Wire Power Car Door Lock Actuator 7Ca". It cost me just $3.90. Plus you need some wire and butt connectors. Total investment was about $10.

This is the actuator:

I used this thread to find the wire color and information that I needed to wire it up. If the thread doesn't come up you can search "the other" F150 forum for "Keyless tailgate". I just don't want to re-post their whole how to over here when its basically exactly the same. It was super easy but time consuming.

Here is a pic of the install taking place:

Took me about 2 hours total to get it all done. Once you get the placement of the actuator figured out it goes pretty smooth 'cause most of your time is running the wires over the spare and into the cab.

Sounds a bit racist.

A few interesting notes:

-Damn thing was $5,300 to replace @ dealership
-~$900 was just the step assembly. Robbery.
-~$800 was the Platinum "plate" on the back... crazy.
that is stupid. wtf

OP that sucks im sorry to hear that. I'm not too worried about my bent up tailgate getting stolen around here but I'm going to go find a hose clamp to be safe

Brings me back to my first F-150, 2002 and my first new car/truck. 2 Weeks later, came out to find no tailgate, (popped the lock). Found a cell phone at the back of my truck and gave it to the cops, they told me the guy worked at the local Wixom Ford Plant and had a similar truck to mine and same color(go figure), but they didn't have enough on him to do anything about it. In hindsight I wish I would of wrote down all the numbers on that cell phone so I could of called everyone on it to tell them the owner was a P.O.S. Petty Thief.

Saw this.... pretty good idea if you are in an area where the tailgate might disappear.
