EcoBoost or 6.2 for lifted truck?

Curious to know how the EcoBoost will perform with a 6" and 35's on it compared to the 6.2L. I don't recall seeing anyone on here who has lifted their EcoBoost up yet and looking for someone with experience on either engine.

I could use more low end grunt for my 5.4 with the stock 3:73's in it. I also like the idea of being able to manually control the tranny on the 11's.

I am thinking the EcoBoost has better torque at the low end and might be the better way to go, what does everyone else think?

i'd go with the 6.2. with my diesel when i put larger tires i noticed it built more boost to compensate and in turn my mileage plummeted.

i'd look into getting the max tow package to get 4.10's if you don't plan to regear with 35's.

search and their is a debate on the 5.0 vs ecoboost and which is better for lifted and that should give you a better idea.

Mall crawling pavement princess or actual off roader? I feel thats what matters, not whether it is lifted or not

Agreed on the max tow comment. I think that would be more important than the motor choice (getting 4.10 that is)..

I dont think deerejeff is much of an offroader based on how perfect his truck always looks, but the topic isnt really about buying a new truck for a mud buggy......but more for towing with a lift. There are a decent amount of people including myself that dont destroy there trucks offroading, but use there truck for towing, hunting, and work.....while also enjoying the awesomeness of a lifted truck and all it wonders...ha
Anyway i just dont think you can get away from cubic inches man. I dont know if fuel mileage while towing is what you are looking for. diesels. gassers. they all get crappy fuel mileage if you are actually towing something with some weight/drag to it. It seems to me your turbo on the other ecoboost would be compensating all the time to begin with after a lift/tires. However if you have watched the stress test they put it through it looks like to me it should hold up to anything the average joe could throw at it. I just like the big v-8!! sounds mean too!

You are correct, not big on off roading my truck, but I am looking for good driveability as I use it as my daily driver.

I know 4:10's would be a better choice, but not available on the Platinum unless you get the EcoBoost from what I can see. I've considered a gear swap for my current truck, but I am having a tough time finding anyone close that will do a gear swap. Plus I have returned my previous trucks to nearly stock condition before trading them back. I like the idea of mods that I can move from one truck to the next to keep the cost down.
