trans fluid leak

'11 owners take a look at the bellhousing area of your truck, I noticed a drop hanging from mine at about 500 miles so now it's sitting in a trans shop waiting for a new front pump and tourqe converter. The front pump is on national back order, seems the six on hand have all been used recently for the same issue. Just over a thousand miles, haven't even made the first payment yet and it's belly up-I'm not impressed. What little info I can get says this is a new trans and and they're redesigning at least the front pump. I don't know if the trans is specifice to the EB or if it's behind the 5.0 also but keep an eye out. I'm sure this will get interesting. By the way there is a pan? under the trans that looks like it could hold a substantial amount of oil before you see drops on the ground/garage floor ect. You can shine a light in and see the bottom of the bell housing to see if it's clean or the pan comes of easily with 4 quarter turn fasteners.

Why is a brand new truck with a warranty sitting at a trans shop and not at the dealer?

It's a small dealership that doesn't do enough tranny work to pay a good trans man to stick around. I'm near Ft.Wayne In. and it's easier for them to use a shop there,it's still warranty work just by an outside vendor. The shop has a good rep, I drop it at the dealer, they take it to the shop and bring it back and I pick it up at the dealer. I don't mind the small goat rodeo as much as it needing it in the first place

Oh alright, I know exactly what you're talking about.I bought my last 2 trucks from a small local dealer like that.I know they sub out their body work but I'm not sure about trans work.I've never had any transmission problems. My dealer usually only stocks 6-7 F150s and 6-7 Superdutys.I had to order my 2011 to get what I wanted.
Good luck and I hope you don't have to wait too long.

I'm in the same boat as you. Except I'm stuck in Dallas/Fort Worth while I wait. I was hauling a 3500 pound trailer from El Paso back to home in Alabama when I noticed smoke coming out from underneath my 11' F150 SuperCrew with 5.0. Spotted Trans fluid on the pan and exhaust. Dropped it off at the dealership hoping it was just a pinched gasket. No luck. Begggin for a quick turn around on the Trans pump. Really bites. 2400 miles on the truck.

Apparently, after talking to the service advisor, it's a known issue that Ford is attempting to fix with it's design.

All i can do is wait. Luckily i've got family in the area.
