Question about max trailer tow package

Ok, so Max Trailer Tow is only offered with EB and 6.2L. Is the motor the only thing that makes the truck able to tow 11.300LBS???????? Or is the rear springs heavier??? What all makes the Max Trailer Tow Pkg?????

http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/towing/

You can get max trailer tow with the Ecoboost too, not just the 6.2

http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/specifications/payload/

It also increases both the vehicle GVRW, and it's payload. Reading between the lines, I'd assume either bigger springs, or more of them.

On top of that, you should get the integrated trailer brake controller, and tow mirrors.

They both have a class 4 hitch reciever, 7 pin wiring harness, upgraded rad, aux trans cooler and selectshift trans.

In addition to what he said, Ford also makes the 4.10 gears standard for a bit more umph. And ford does add an additional leaf to the rearend, which is what contributes to the raise in payload capacity as well.

Ford does not offer an additional leaf with the max tow. Not since Job 2 2010.

They all have 2 since.

And 4.10s are for FX4 max tow w 20s only in usa.

i looked at a lariat ecoboost with the trailer max package and decided not to get it because of the big ugly *** mirrors that were not electric folding. except for the mirrors and built in trailer controller i believe my truck is exactly the same as the one with the max package. same suspension, same rear gearing, same cooling, same transmission.

correct me if i am wrong.

Hitch/bumper rated 1000lbs higher: 111,500 vs. 10,500 I recall.

The rest is speculation I think.

The only facts are:

Package (55F)
The most significant upgrade is the 350-450 pound higher GVWR which at 10% tongue weight means up to 4500 pounds more real world towing capability, despite less than 2000 pound rating.

You can get the 3.73 gear without max towing package. You can get almost everything in the package except the GVWR/payload sticker and maybe anything that is required to get that higher GVWR.
