You may be able to qualify for it and not know it. See if your or if you're married, your spouse's employer is on this list:

you can negotiate a better price than xplan if you find a dealer who wants your sale. i beat my x-plan price by over $1200 by not using it.

Thanks guys -- I am actually trying to get one so I can buy an Explorer for my wife. I think I can get close to the x-plan price (normally 100 over invoice) but can't get them to lower the 700 dollar dealer fee. Since the xplan only allows a 100 dollar fee I figured I would save at least 600 bucks. My last company was eligible but my new company is not so I was hoping I would find someone who could give me one.

Thanks in advance

USAA has way better negotiated rates than the x plan and they will do all the work for you

I just bought a 2011 Lariat that was pretty much loaded. Listed was around $45,800. The X plan through NextEra Energy saved me about $4500. It was better than having to try dealing with them.

What kind of deals does USAA have? I am a Costco member and went through their program and they are 500 dollars above invoice and then you have to pay the entire dealer fee - so no better than what you could do on your own. We don't currently have insurance with USAA but are a member so I am assuming I could use them....

USAA is normally at invoice or below, then take off the incentives.

I went with the X-plan because of the capped dealer fees. I just like going in and buying with out a hassle as it's much easier. Just curious, but how do you use an X-plan pin if you don't quality? I know they verified my place of employment even though I had a PIN number with me.

I have purchased 3 new Fords using the X-plan program. Was it the best deal going? I don't know. I do know that it takes the sales hype out of the salesperson when they know they have to show you the price, not what they think they can nickel out of you.

Now the fun part is to take your trade in, if you have one, let them figure out what they will be willing to pay you for it before you ever mention what you will be buying. If they think a higher trade price can be made up with mark ups on the new vehicle, it plays in your favor.

I'll likely be buying my 4th new Ford in the next while, but kind of waiting out the EB to see if it holds up and gives the empty mileage that I would like.
