^ my 08 6.4L diesel F-250 achieved the same mileage (7.5-8mpg) with a 7,000lb toyhauler. I'll take your numbers because 87 octane is cheaper than diesel.

Takes a lot to make it shift down where as the V8s drop a gear and rev.
Loaded or unloaded it just hauls...and it does it so quietly it's scary...
The Ecoboost is the only reason I bought another F150.
What octane fuel do you use while in the mountains. 85 is the norm for high alt. Do you run 85,86 of stick with 87. I'll be purchasing an at sealevel Lariat that will be used a couple of times a year int he very high Rockies. I used 85 in my '04 5.4 pulling 2100#, toting 750#s with 3 adults and an 80# dog. No problems with knock.
Thanks for your reply.

I didn't even think they sold 85 octane??? The owners manual states 87 octane is fine for normal driving but if the engine is going to be working hard like pulling a trailer they recommend 91 octane. Not sure if 85 octane is good for a twin turbo engine??? I was surprised when i first looked at the Ecoboost that they didn't require premium fuel..

agree'd. The motor isn't built for E85 and i can't think of anywhere that sells 85 octane.
