Yeah, check out the 4.6 Northstar that GM uses, those engines typically will use 3 qts of oil between oil changes, and that is no B.S. :o

Only time I ever got an extended warranty was when I bought my Harley, there are no cheap repairs.

Goodluck with it.
Amen.....my Harley ext warranty has paid for itself two times over.....

+2 BMW/MINI has 1 litre per 1000km rule for engine repair. The Mini's have a 23,000km service interval..... if you dont check your oil there have been more than a few turbos replaced because of lack of oil.

Just got back from lunch with my friend and the ecoboost has developed a pretty bad knock at 131,000 miles. They have another 6 days to go with the test so they are going to run it until then. He said it was running fine until they pulled it in the shop to rotate the test tires and fired it up and started knocking and has gotten louder everyday and it has lost alot of power also. Im headed over there after work and if the truck is there i will get a video of it, they left out late this morning so it may not be there.

on a side note they have several 09's with the 5.4 and they are around 260-278,000 miles and still running strong, other than burning a little bit of oil

They had some 99-03 f150s a few years ago that made it to 650k but they were getting tired.

They still have a 93 crown vic that rolled over 1 million miles a year or so ago and to this day is still run in some of the tests. Last time i checked it was showing 186,000 on the clock. Original Motor and i think 3 transmissions and 2 rearends.

They have had a few silverados with the 6.0 in them and have had total hell with them..The 6.0 Vortech is a pos. all the motor were replaced by 150k.

That's awesome about the 5.4s, what's a "little oil"? A quart every 1000mi?

Yup, they throw a quart in it every day and they drive 800 miles a day and its usually around 3/4 of a quart low at the end of the night

Lol you have no idea how these trucks are run! If they got 131k out of this one a ordinary person should get 250k easy out of one

Ecoboost is dead... at 132,100 miles. The driver said he was headed up a hill and heard a "bang" saw some smoke come out from under the hood and she was dead. It wont even turn over just clicks when you try to start it.

Sounds like maybe they should have had the knock checked out a bit sooner!

I am sure the trucks are ran wide open all the time, so 131,000 is good mileage IMO. Ordinary person should get 200,000 + miles.
