FX4 - Placing order on friday. Pricing question

Going in to place my factory order this week and had a pricing question.
I have not bought a new car before and would appreciate feedback about how much to offer the dealer.

MSRP 46849
Options 2169
Freight fee 1450
AC tax 100
Employee pricing -5973
Delivery allowance -6000
--------------------------
$38,595

Whats a good and reasonable starting point to go in with?
Appreciate it!

Not sure what all your options are, but it sounds comparable to what I ordered the other week. 2011 SCREW FX4 EB Lux. Pkg. 6.5' bed, and a few accessories.

Mine came to $45,315

With X Plan, current rebates ($3,000) and my trade ($6,000) I got them to $32,150 and they are going to Line-Ex it for free.

See if you can get an X Plan PIN, makes for a less stressful experience.

I'm no expert but seems like a pretty good deal to me. What employee pricing is that and I've never heard of the delivery allowance of 6k but that seems pretty good. Looks like a loaded out FX4 for under 40k, I'd do it!

Your obviously a CDN buyer. Currently for the remainder of the month of August is employee pricing at all Ford dealerships across Canada.

I just ordered about 2 weeks ago an XTR Crew Cab 4X4 with Ecoboost. MSRP was $47k and with employee pricing it was $35k I got the dealer down to $32,000 even (plus taxes).

So $3k off $35k would be about 8.5% discount on the price. I'm surprised that there was still so much room after the ford discounts. I guess I have to look at it from the point that the ford discounts are ford discounts, and have absolutely nothing to do with the dealer price.
So assuming a similar discount, the price would go from $38,595 --> $35,300? Was your discount an exception to the rule or is that about in-line with what is reasonable?

Thanks for the replies guys

One other tool for you is to try getting extras...

For example. I had X Plan, which gave me a solid price, I went back and forth with 2 different dealers about my trade and both had given me more than I expected (which is great), but they then eventually stopped moving on the price and gave me my final number.

The next thing I asked for is a spray in liner. I would only accept Line Ex after all the research I did here and elsewhere as they have always received higher regards. One dealer has a deal with a Line Ex installer and gave me the liner for free, the other was going to give me 50% off.

I was planning on getting the liner anyways, so this saved me $500.

My Dad is kinda funny. He refuses to buy a new vehicle without the dealer giving him a complete set of Ford repair manuals for his truck.

Hope this helps!
