I have put the Silverstar bilbs in all my rides and have not had issues with them burning out quick. I think they do a better job over stock, but nothing like HID. You might consider putting HID in the fogs like I did. I have a real hard time seeing at night when driving on two lane roads with on coming traffic, I found that having the HID in the fogs help see the road in front of you better.

Yep the SS are know for a shorter life.....I didn't have any issues with them but my truck hardly gets driven......
Some other bulbs to look for is the phillips extreme or ge night hawk
PnP hid kits are not the way to go......the reflectors are not manufactured to handle the extra uv rays and they're not design for the different bulb focal point .....

I've only had the SS Ultras in my '10 for a week, but loving them so far. So much better than stock!
I had the regular Silverstars in my Explorer for several years. They were great too. Only had to replace them once....when I rear ended an F150. They actually still worked after the accident, but the body shop replaced all the headlight/foglight housings and bulbs with stock stuff. I had to buy another set.

I must be crazy, but I am quite pleased with the light output on my '11 FX4. Though my last truck was a '93 F150.
The Silverstar Ultras are a great bulb. They don't burn out as everyone seems to think they do. My dad had his 5 years and they still worked great when I pulled them when we scrapped his truck the other day. I have had them 4 years in my 93. One is duller, but that headlight rattles.
