Headlight Bulbs - 2011 F-150

Hey All, The stock headlights SUCK on my 2011 F-150. I am not going the H.I.D. route, but does anyone have experience with Sylvania Silverstars? I heard they burn out real fast. Any info/tips are appreciated. Anything else anyone can reccomend?

Thanks all

I have put the Silverstar bilbs in all my rides and have not had issues with them burning out quick. I think they do a better job over stock, but nothing like HID. You might consider putting HID in the fogs like I did. I have a real hard time seeing at night when driving on two lane roads with on coming traffic, I found that having the HID in the fogs help see the road in front of you better.

Yep the SS are know for a shorter life.....I didn't have any issues with them but my truck hardly gets driven......

Some other bulbs to look for is the phillips extreme or ge night hawk

PnP hid kits are not the way to go......the reflectors are not manufactured to handle the extra uv rays and they're not design for the different bulb focal point .....

Thanks all, I apologize for not posting this in the right section. Thanks for all the input. I def. wont be going H.I.D in this truck, don't need that. Especially being I am considering a bull bar/push bar with a few lights on that.

Thanks again

I recently put a set of ss ultra in my '10. I am so far pleased with the results. Sure made the world in front of me different at night. I have since ordedred a set of 9145 ss fog replacements.

I've had SS Ultras in mine now for over a year and they haven't popped yet. Major improvement over stock.

Is the new style headlights that crappy or don't you have them adjusted correctly?

Its hard to tell in the video but they look like they're aimed too high......

I've only had the SS Ultras in my '10 for a week, but loving them so far. So much better than stock!

I had the regular Silverstars in my Explorer for several years. They were great too. Only had to replace them once....when I rear ended an F150. They actually still worked after the accident, but the body shop replaced all the headlight/foglight housings and bulbs with stock stuff. I had to buy another set.

They are high because my driveway is sloped where my truck is parked. But they are pretty crappy.

I must be crazy, but I am quite pleased with the light output on my '11 FX4. Though my last truck was a '93 F150.
The Silverstar Ultras are a great bulb. They don't burn out as everyone seems to think they do. My dad had his 5 years and they still worked great when I pulled them when we scrapped his truck the other day. I have had them 4 years in my 93. One is duller, but that headlight rattles.

Yup. One major disappointment with my 2011 is the headlights. They are nowhere near as bright stock as my 04 were. Good thing I don't drive much at night with it.
