What should I do LT275/70/18 or P265/70/18

I do not like the Wrangler sr-a tires that came stock on my truck so I am looking at putting on the new Cooper AT3. I hunt and fish and need something better when I am on backroads or in fields.

I have been going back and forth on what I want and can't decide. Of course I would like the looks of the bigger tire(.5" larger and .39" wider) but with that comes only in "E" rated where as the other is "P" rated. Also, the bigger tire weighs 11lbs more per tire so is it worth it to gain an extra .5"? I tow a boat(all the time) and sometimes(3-4 times a year) TT that weighs around 6k but that is it so I do not need "E" tires just the look is what I am after.

I am planning on getting a leveling kit 1.5" or Blistein 5100 down the road so I don't want the tires to look small.

What you say???

I removed the factory SR-A tires as soon as I got my '09 FX4. My first set of tires were 285x65x18 Nitto Terra Grapplers. I ran these tires for about 48K miles. I wanted a little more agressive tread, so about 8k miles ago I put on some Cooper ST Maxx in 275x70x18. Yes, the E load range tires will slightly effect ride and mileage. However, I feel the trade off is worth the look and additional capabilites of the more agressive tires. To answer your question, I think you will be happy with the larger size over factory.

After leveling, and with the factory tire size, my truck looked odd. Bigger rubber sells the whole look. If you plan to level, even the 275/70,s are gonna be too small. Not to mention the speedo being off. A tuner fixes that though. It snowballs in a hurry. Turned out to be a really quick way to spend nearly 2500$ of my fun shopping fund.

Can I change the speedo with a 5startuner besides making my truck shift better? I am looking at buying that also.

Yes you can. I use the SCT that I got from 5star, and it is a wonderful addition. Calibrates speedo perfectly, and the custom tunes 5star provided are a significant improvement over the stock settings.
