I did similar changes to my last truck and my charger and to be honest it sounds fun at first, but the droan got old after a while. Under load it just annoying, and rather obnoxious. I can't count the # of people who got upset on the road when passing on the 4 lane and started going up a grade and the tranny downshift and the pipes start kackling some would see it as an invite to race others would either fly the bird or give you dirty looks and I was just toodling down the road.
The other big draw back is I work long hours so if I do anything around the house at night or early morning that requires the use of the truck it is noisy and wakes the neighbors. My neighbor had a Dodge truck with duals on it and he leaves for work every day at 2AM, ask me how I know.... You could use the argument who cares, well I don't I don't want to be that neighbor.
Plus I grew tired of the sound myself, so no exhaust mods for the new F-150 for me.
But I will say, if you try the cheap way that is what it is going to sound like, nothing will sound right unless you do it the right way.
just my $.02

Ok good advice, now what would you consider the "right way". I do like the sound of the 5.0L at full throttle, but what about at cruising speed...?

What I consider the right way, is not modifying things like removing the resinator.
Buying an exhaust made by a company such as magnaflow or some other company that has put thousands of dollars and hours into R&D to get you the best sound and performance... That's the right way in my opinion.
Normally when you start modifying the OEM exhaust, you remove things they have put in place to cancel out a odd noise or vibration, while you may get a little beefier sound it is at the price of a vibration or some quirky noise somewhere in the power band that sounds silly.
Save $$$ and get a tuned quality exhuaust, I have tried both ways and always regretted the shade tree method.
