Richmoto125...I use to have a 6.0L PSD...you don't know ***** about turbo lag until you drive one of those in stock form...I lived it until an extreme tuner...then it was .

V8 all the way! one thing people should realize is that turbos have no low end power (taking time to spool the turbos) and is not that delectable for starting and stopping!! take those turbos off that v6 and u have a 150 horse pill of truck that likes to suck gas and run poopy!
Wow, you need to get a clue. Gas sucker yeah, but the rest of your post is way opposite of the truth. Turbo's have no low end power??? are you serious? The EB makes 365 @ 5000 rpm & 420lb-ft @ 2500 rpm and the 5.0 360 horsepower at 5,500rpm and 380lb-ft of torque at 4,250rpm. It appears the EB is making almost double the torque than the 5.0 @ 2500rpm. No low end power

If you take the turbos off the V6, you get 302hp & 278lb-ft , and the naturally aspirated V6 is the MPG king at 23mpg's - what planet are you from?

Likewise if the MPG's aren't going to be so hot then may as well go with the Raptor. I've been set on a Raptor with a 6.2 but was really leaning to an EcoBoost but now back to undecided. Glad I wont be getting something right away and have time to think and research allot more.

What? Last time I checked, a Rap was WAY more expensive than standard trim level trucks. Also the ecoboost may not get 25 mpg or whatever you were expecting, but 18-19 beats the hell out of 10 any day imo.

i can tell you all that when we bought the wifes taurus it took about 12k to 18K until the engine got broken in and then mpg went up about 3 mpg FYI .... so imo dont be so quick to judge ....

like what Shadow Gray said, go drive a diesel in stock form and compair the EB with turbo lag... you will change your mind !!!!!
believe me i drive a diesel everyday....

About 18.xx usually in-town with creeping up to 19.xx on the longer trips. Seems odd to have such little spread though.

I know mine doesn't quite meet your request (2011 EB SCrew 5.5' XLT 4x4 3.31) but with 1800mi (all empty) & calc by hand (although trip comp was very close to this) avg 15.5 mpg mixed, best 18.0 mpg (all hwy, 75% 65mph with 25% 75mph), worst 14.9 mpg (90% in town lots of idling). Bear in mind the wind around here is always blowing sideways if not head on with mildly rolling hills.

I thunk I wanted an Eco, but after reading this thread, Ima gonna be satisfied with my 3V,4.6-4x4 (3.73LS) with it's 21.7mpg on the highway @ 70mph.

Maybe I can't tow as much as the Eco's, but I don't want or have too.

Daily driver and scoots right along @ 75mph, plus I gotz the 36 gallon tank.

Yup, Ima gonna be keepin this one and not gettin an eco anymore.

Plus, I only owe $19,000 more and he'll be all mine.

And, my XLT has given me good service with only 1 return for a warranty item (bad injector) in 2 years.

And the dreaded high brake light leak.

I'd like to hear from people who have a LOT of miles, and keep a running total hand calculated.

My 09 5.4 FX4, 3.73, 1.5" AS front level and BF TA/KO 33" tires at 40psi:

I'm at 89319 miles as of tonight, with a grand total mileage of 12.7 (using Car Manager App for iPhone). This is overall with towing, but 90% of miles are empty and interstate. My last 4 tanks were 14.4, 14.9, 13.8, 14.5, with an average speed of 51mph. Iowa is mostly level with slight rolling hills.

I have two coworkers with matching trucks, 5.0L and EB. Both are in the 45,000+ mile range, and the EB is running 2.6mpg higher than the 5.0L. They both are driving Minnesota territories. We all run about 150k miles, so the difference in mileage is about $5075 over the life of the truck. Not as much as one would like.

My old man averages about 17.5-18mpg mixed driving, on the highway he will get around 19-20mpg.

Platinum Screw, 3.73, max tow package.

I have a spreadsheet that shows my MPG for each tank and each driving situation.
I compare my hand calculated to the dash each tank. My truck currently has 18,000 miles.
I have seen as good as 19.9 on a freeway only run doing the speed limit 60 and 70 mph.
My usual freeway run is more like 18.5 doing 75-80
My daily driving mpg was 17.5 on summer fuel, but has fallen to 16.7 on winter fuel. This is a 10 mile drive mostly city with an average speed of about 34mph

Had a 2006 Screw 5.4 4x4 with 3.73 and now have a 2011 Screw EB 4x4 with 3.73 off road package. I have been consistently running at the 18.8 range on the road. Even with the smaller tank I am noticing it is a longer time between gas stations for me. I only have 3500 miles on the truck and am enjoying the EB after the sluggish feeling of the 2006.

The dealer couldn't get the truck I wanted... so they found the same vehicle and options with the off road package no extra charge! I did wonder about the e-locker in the rear-end, but after driving in the first big snowfall I love how the traction control and stability gets this truck moving. The 2011 just gets up and goes in places were I watch others sit and spin.
