I think the majority of EB haters feel the way they do simply because "it isn't a V-8" and it doesn't sound like one. They may think that driving a 6 cylinder truck is grounds for revoking their man card.........

Same type of person who wouldn't touch a V-6 Mustang. They seem to forget that today's V-6 Mustang will run circles around the GT V-8 from not all that many years ago........

Agreed and I bought a 5.0L but didn't buy it simply because the EB was girly or something.

I just read the other thread, that's some good stuff! It seems the OP owns a gas and oil company yet has the grammatical skills of 1st grader. He bought the 5.0 because he loves the sound it makes and hates the EB because of the sound and turbo lag. Yet in the other thread he brags about owning a Mitzi EVO. A car with a loud turbo 4 banger from the factory and well known for hours bag its turbo lag is. Methinks someone is a bit confused...

Douche bag, or simply douche, is considered to be a pejorative term. The slang usage of the term originated in the 1960s. The term usually refers to a person, usually male, with a variety of negative qualities, specifically arrogance and engaging in obnoxious and/or irritating actions, most often without malicious intent. Hey that sounds like you!!

The problem is that he doesn't have one! So how can he say how poor the gas mileage and the turbo lag is? He posted that he has the 5.0.

I think the others have pretty much said what was needed, but since this was directed towards me, I feel obligated to respond.

To start, I don't need to go to a forum or read anything to find out how the ecoboost performs. I own one, 2 of my coworkers own them, and 3 of my friends own them.

Out of all of those trucks, my truck gets the worst mileage, but with a 4x4 crew cab with 4.10 gears and 33" tires...that is to be expected. I get better mileage with the EB than I ever got with my stock 2010 5.4 (crew cab 4x4 with 3.55 gears), it has MUCH more power, and has been just as reliable, so I'm a happy camper. I currently have about 7500 miles on my truck, and 3500 of those miles have been with a 7000lb 24x8.5 enclosed trailer behind it, and the rest of the miles have been with me driving it like I stole it...so my truck has been worked harder than your average F150.

One of my friends has had a few issues with his, and it has spent a little time in the shop. It had a check engine light that wouldn't clear or go away, so he took it in...they cleared the CEL. Shortly later, the light came back so they replaced an 02 sensor, problem solved. A month or so later, the CEL was back on, so the truck went back to the dealer...a new catalytic converter went on, so far so good. Annoying issues? Yes. Major issues? No. The rest of the trucks I mentioned above have never had a single issue. Yes, I know a few people have had bigger issues across the country...but with a new engine, that is to be expected. It happens with every brand and every engine.

Like others have mentioned, I believe your post was just to stir the pot. If not, you may be just bashing the EB to make yourself feel better about your 5.0 purchase...I'm sorry you feel the need to do so. I know a few guys who have bought those also, great engines for sure...and a BIG upgrade over the 4.6/5.4...but every one of those guys constantly needs to bash the EB for some reason. I have never had the urge to tell a 5.0 owner that my engine is better than his, or that he screwed up...buy what you want and be happy about it. Ford made each one of these engines for a reason, they all are selling well and are big improvements over the previous generations of engines...so why do you feel the need to bash one of them?

My coworkers new 5.0 already had to have the throttle body replaced due to the fact it shut down on him every morning coming to work when it started to get cold.... Took the delaers three trips to figure out the problem... Not sure the 5.0 is all it's cracked up to be either... Just sayin
BTW my EB has given me 0 trouble and gets 18 in the city and 23 hwy... I guess it's true. every machine is different

max tow with the eco allows you the option of 3.73 or 4.10's.

Are your mpg numbers coming from the avg computer or from basic math? I ask this because I am currently receiving 18.9 mpg combined and 20.1 mpg highway mileage on E10 Shell or E10 Phillips 66 gas using basic math.

My avg comp will go as high as 27.5 mpg at 55 mph.

Thanks, James
My numbers are for my ecoboost using the lie-o-meter backed up with hand calculations at fill up. The difference is less than .5 mpg. Also when I say highway, I mean generally flat rural country highways, not the freeway. Everywhere I go I only would need to be on the freeway for less than 3 miles, so unless I'm in a hurry I don't go that way. To get this truck going costs a lot in fuel, which is why there is such a huge difference between my highway numbers and city driving.

I have noticed on stations that advertise 10% ethanol I get worse mileage than gas stations that advertise up to 10% ethanol. They both might have 10% and the better mileage might be from some other chemical, but that is my observation.

Thanks,

My son averaged 33 mpg on a drive from TX to AR at 72 mph in his 3.7L 'Stang. He drives about 60 miles round trip each day to work but has found that he misses his old F-150.
He really doesn't need another truck but is determined to buy when the 2013's hit the Showroom's.
