New F150 isn't so new...

I just noticed my new 2011 F150 is a year old....the sticker on the driver's door says date of manufacture is 11/10. So if it is a very early 2011 model that has been on dealers lots for a year, are there issues I need to be aware of? I know there have been recalls and such.

Thanks for any info,

Nunya

Mine was nearly a year old, also made in November. So was my 2005, when I bought it. No issues with either one. I put 135,000 on the 2005 and have about 10,500 on the 2011.

I don't mind...just didn't even consider it when I bought it, that's all! It fits in my garage, so I'm happy......still would like to know if there are any issues with the early models I need to know about, though....

besides motors, there isn't too much that was totally re-designed. so far nothing has surfaced to specific months to avoid like on 08 job 1 superduty's.

My truck was all of 12 days old (built 10/7, bought 10/19) when I bought it, but I had a 2009 Lincoln MKS that sat out on a dealer's lot for 6 or 7 months before I bought it ... and it had issues. First, the drains in the doors didn't work (dealer had a water specialist come in and clean them out), and then at 5k the brakes started making noise and being less effective in stopping the car.

If your truck had a few miles on it, whether from being test driven or moved around on the lot, you should be fine.

Just my $.02.

There shouldn't be any issues.....

Not all of that time was spent on the lot.....the time on the lot all depends on when the dealer took delivery.....there are other places where they sit waiting to be released/shipped.....if it was a dealership alotment one....

The only thing that that I've seen plague vehicles that have sat on dealer lots a long time are a lot of swirl marks in the paint or chrome trim (from the multiple car washes and quick "details" every few weeks), some fading of black plastic bits (from the sun), and some hard water spotting from drying out in the sun following a rain storm.

That seems logical, but mine had none of that. It sat in some holding lot, and was very dirty, but cleaned up perfectly(I saw it before they cleaned it). I wanted an earlier build as they were priced lower, before the mid year price increase. Since I was buying with a discount off the sticker, it meant a savings of almost $500.

The only negative that I am seeing is that the battery is older.

Awesome, only a month old. I don't have issues with mine other than it was dirty along the moldings and the engine compartment had a LOT of dust/dirt. I'm not complaining, I just want to make sure there aren't any recalls or service bulletins that came out that I need to take care of, that's all.

Legally a new vehicle can not be sold if there is an outstanding recall on it so you're good there. So far I haven't really seen too many issues with the 2011s. A few people have had shifting issues that a reflash took care of but that's about all that comes to mind. Most of the parts were carried over from the 09-10s and the motors have all been used for a while in other Ford products. Pretty much all the major bugs have been worked out already.

I had purchased a 11 month old new F150 off the lot several years ago. First thing I did was drive it until it warmed up and did an oil and filter change. I didn't like the idea of it having been on a few test drives and never really warming up, and then sitting for close to one year.

The other thing was when I did the first tire rotation, the aluminum rims were really stuck to the rotor hubs. Had a heck of a time getting them off and had to clean them and apply a little bit of Never-Seze on the back side of them.

I now have almost 155000 miles on the truck and not one bit of engine or transmission trouble this whole time!
