Help on getting a good deal on a '11 FX2

Hey everyone. I've currently got a 2010 4x4 Lariat, but I hate the transmission and my wife hates the lack of navigation and backup camera. So I took it in for service, and decided to check out the 2011s. Dealer has x1 2011 left on the lot with the options I want, a FX2. I lose 4x4 but gain some options my wife wants. Dealer gives me enough on the 2010 to brake even, so I'm just left with negotiating the price of the 2011 FX2.

Dealer says:
MSRP is $42,535 (after $2k in FX discounts), Invoice is $38,908. Dealer says they'll do $400 over invoice. That, minus active duty $500, plus taxes, tags, etc comes out to:

$38,165, "drive off the lot price." Link to the sticker is HERE

I've seen people come in at $10K below MSRP, drive off the lot price. It that what I should expect as well? I think I should be lower, but I don't know what is realistic. Any help or insight you could offer would be greatly appreciated.

is 2k in rebates all your eligible for? you should have 1k trade in, i'd finance thru ford and get the 1k in ford rebates and then re-finance the truck thru your personal bank, and then their should be some more rebates available.

If you can get the truck for invoice + Rebates i'd be happy.

Thanks for the feedback. To be honest, I was/am still a little confused. The sales manager first said $2500 in rebates. As I walked out to ponder the numbers I asked for clarification. She said the $2500 was:

1000 FX Luxury discount
1000 FX Premium discount
500 Active Duty Mil

So I know know if those first two are truly "rebates" per se since they're listed on the sticker I linked to as well.

Yeah, I saw/have seen where some dealerships are running $7K - 10K in rebates here on the forums which lead to my question. Seems as if I'm not seeing much in the way of rebates at all.

Your not in a town right next to a base are you? A lot of car dealerships will try to screw you if they are right out side the gate. USAA price for a 2012, well equiped with everything you said, was 42,000 and some change. And that was with the ecoboost engine. 38 doesn't seem too bad, but they could do better.

Not right next to a base per se, but I'm in a town between Ft. Belvoir and Quantico MCB.

Good call on USAA, I had forgotten all about their car buying service. I ran the numbers through there, configuring the vehicle to match exactly.

According to USAA, I should come out at $34,158 before processing, taxes, title, and license. Now I don't know all of the fees, but it seems like $34K + TTL would be a bit cheaper than the $38K "out the door" I was quoted...

$34,158 + Tax ($1,024.74) + Processing ($500) + Tags (Reused, $40) + maybe an additional subtraction of $500 for the unlisted mil discount would put me roughly around ~$36K...a little better than the original price.

If I get them to go that low, hopefully they don't start magically offering me less for my trade in......

I didnt find anything of note on ford's website, but going through USAA shows a $2K customer incentive rebate

Well, the 2012's should be arriving soon. With what rebates than they're offering you on a 2011, maybe worth waiting a couple weeks for a 2012. Check here to see what's on the way in your area...just plug in your zip code.

Yeah, I was really hoping to score a deal on a 2011. Might be worth my while to take a look at some 2012s too.

You are correct that you are not seeing anything in the way of the rebates (other than $500 active duty.) They gave you $400 over invoice, but to do that they took away all of the rebates.

The FX discount is NOT a rebate. It's part of the MSRP. If they told you the FX discount was the rebate, they are trying to deceive you. Take your business elsewhere.

Seriously, they are trying to **** you. The 2k is not an incentive, it is a discount for purchasing a bunch of options. The incentives on the 2011 f150 can be found here-

http://www.ford.com/trucks/f150/2011/incentives/

and the fine print reads-

Disclosures:
$2,000 Customer Cash (PGM #12008) + $1,000 Ford Credit Bonus Cash (PGM #12010) + $1,000 XLT Bonus Cash (PGM #11868) + $1,000 Trade-In Assistance Bonus Cash (PGM #33806) + $500 Bonus Cash (PGM #12000 on 5.0L V8, PGM #11934 on 3.7L V6). Trade-In Assistance Bonus Cash requires trade-in of 1995 or newer FLM or competitive vehicle, or terminate lease 30 days prior to or 90 days after new retail delivery. Ford Credit Bonus Cash requires Ford Credit financing. Not all buyers will qualify for Ford Credit financing. 0% APR financing for 60 months at $16.67 per month per $1,000 financed regardless of down payment (PGM #20342). Not available on EcoBoost or 6.2L V8. Residency restrictions apply. For all offers, take new retail delivery from dealer stock by 1/3/2012. See dealer for qualifications and complete details.

So, you should be eligible for $4,500 of incentives if you finance thru ford initially. Find another dealer, and the more information you have when you go to talk to them the better.

I'm finding it REALLY comes down to region. I just bought my 2011 FX4 Black/Black, which I imagine is highly desirable, built in 10/11. MSRP was $45,000 and I got it for $35,000 + TTT. Sadly than I got my coupon from my brochure after I already made the purchase.

By us the 2012 are on the lots already but nothing above the XLT. My friend ordered a 2012 Platnum 3-4 weeks ago and they told him to expect it by the end of this month. They also arent dropping price on the 2011 any where near 10 k more like 5k.

sounds to me like there are absolutely ZERO actual rebates in the numbers you were given.

as said, those "discounts" are part of the MSRP for ordering an options package. if you totalled up all the cost for each option individually, it would total however much more that discount is if not bought as the group. it's just a savings for a given trim level package of options.

there should still be some rebates on 2011 like ford customer cash, etc. i would ask for those off of the number you already have and then the deal sounds in line.

for reference, i bought my 2011 fx4 for about what they offered you on the fx2 just two months ago. I was a bit above invoice, but, i had $4500 in rebates which knocked it way on down

Thanks for the feedback everyone, it was invaluable.

Got my new 2011 FX2 sitting in the driveway. When all was said and done, I got $4.5K in rebates and ~$7.5-$8K off MSRP
