A lot of other vehicles mainly the gm sports cars that I have driven you flip a switch and leave it where you want it, the driver has that option without constant turning it off everytime the vehicle is started...
The same reason Lamborghinis now come with automated trannys, the ECM can drive the car better than the human. The driver only needs to tell the car which direction it should be headed.

I'll admit there's something fun about driving my old Porsche with true mechanical gauges, a dogleg 5 speed and the only driver aid is between my ears. But the newer cars with the traction and launch control and automated shifting are much faster than I can ever be.

It does seem there is a glitch somewhere in the programing on the trucks listed above that is causing the TC to cut in too soon and kill the power. I wonder if it is due to the driver's peddle input confusing the ECM. (thinking out loud) If the driver is rapidly pushing the throttle on and off will it cause the ECM to think the driver is fighting slippery conditions and severely limit the power?

The second time that I experianced a delay was trying to exit the highway. I needed to change lanes to get to my off ramp but when I put the pedal down it only downshifted one gear (5th) and was very slow to accelerate. I let up on the pedal and then back down to the floor, with NO response. I repeted this a couple more times with the same result. I made my exit but I believe that I'd become an obstruction to others in traffic. If I'd known the truck was going to react this way, I would have planned a different manuver.

I have the 5 Star tunes in there, which do help to access the power more readily. It picks up better from a stop, but it's not going to scrub the pavement. It pulls harder once the engine builds rpms. It usually pulls hard when passing at highway speeds too, downshifting a couple gears to put it in the power band. I believe the time that it wouldn't go on the highway, the conditions were just so where it wouldn't react the way I anticipated it would. Most of the time it does what I want it to.
You have a 5-Star tune on an ecoboost?

I'm going out on a limb here. 5-Star doesn't tune the Ecoboost motors?

Don't think so, not yet.

This all reminds me of the throttle by wire tb lag when the 04's first came out....eventually they'll get get it right, we'll get used to it, or someone will find a way to disable it.....

I think if I remember right some of the raptor guys found away around it but I can't remember where I saw that

I've seen a way to remap your throttle on here that is supposed to get rid of the lag. I don't remember the thread title buy a search should turn it up. I was going to try it when I picked up my 2011 but this truck isn't too bad. I think some ECM codes might be more prone to it than others are.

As Bluejay said I have the base, 3.7 V6. I'm throwing my $.02 here because I don't believe that that this is an EcoBoost specific issue. I would think that this could be an issue with any engine currently available in the F150. I think that anyone who has experienced this lag would like to know if there is a remedy for it.

Traction Control glitch seems very possible. Anyone have a pre TC F-150 that ever had this happen? The more I think about it, the more it seems as if I was on snow trying to floor it (even though I was on dry pavement with complete traction).
