turning off rear parking aid, for trailering

ok I have read the manual...and i go to my mesage center and i scroll down to SETTINGS..

from there i choose Driver assist,

but from there the BOOK says I can choose:
rear parking aid
or, trailer brake mode
or trailer sway control
or rear video camera

well i dont have the camera option, so i wouldnt expect to see that, BUT

the ONLY thing that come up is trailer sway control..

I can go up or down or right or left and it just runs from "driver assist" to trailer sway control to on/off... and thats it..

what is the trick to getting into rear parkign aid?

I have that feature on my truck, and when i back up with my boat trailer, I got to listen to the dammm beeping, and cant hear my buddy guiding me down the ramp in the pitch black night!!

hope to hear from you guys

I know the display is different on the 11's, but when i put mine (2010) in reverse I have the option right in the message center to turn it off. I too hate hearing that thing when backing with my boat.

When I put it in reverse I push the reset button to turn it off.

One other thing to mention is that if you have your tailgate down it will cause the Backup alarm to go off. Just a FYI

Maybe the '11 is different from my '09, but when I have my trailer plugged in, the rear parking aid turns itself off automatically.

My 11 FX4 does this also. I'll go through the settings in the AM but, I'm sure someone will be along with your answer before than. Rest assured it can be done.

OK - being my '09 automatically turns the reverse sensors off, I was wondering if you folks having this problem have the factory brake controller.

I have the factory brake controller on my '09 and now wondering if that is the key to the sensors turning off automatically.

If you have the TBC, you can say you have a trailer hooked up when you don't and it will automatically shut that stuff off. It also gives you 5 blinks instead of 3 when changing lanes.

On my 2011, 5.0 as soon as i put it in reverse, in the display in the dash, It gives me the option to turn off the back up system. You push down and hit enter.

what screen?

ther dash is any one of like 5 different screens...there is no standard screen.

I usually just leave mine of fuel economy.

I called the dealer and he said that ill have to bring the truck in, because I am not getting rear parking aid to show up in the Driver assist page.

I only have the XLT, and no TBC, or rear view camera....but the guy on thephone said I had the higher end display controls.

I too have an XLT and it works like posted above. When I put the truck in reverse, the the screen goes to one that says Backing up Aid or something like that and there are to options. It is set as "on" and if I want to turn it off, I scroll down and hit "ok".

I was wrong, thank goodness, I hauled my trailer yesterday and the backup alarm didn't go off. It's when I have the 4wheeler in the bed with the tailgate down that I have to turn it off..
