Quick inverter question--watts

That was the first thing I thought of since I have a large craftsman compressor at home. But looking into it even a ten gallon tank will probably not be enough, and since they would probably need to go back up to 60psi from 20 or so, the tank will loose the pressure needed to flow from the tank to the tire pretty quick. I think someone told me I would get lucky to get two or three tires filed up with that, and even then not to 60psi. A CO2 tank may do the job, but they are a little more expensive, and would have to get it filled with the co2 somewhere.

Ruffin-it I am not sure how much you were wanting to spend, but there are pure or true sine wave inverters out there that will run your compressor.

To determine how large of an inverter you need you will have to find the start up amperage draw of your air compressor and then multiply that by 120 V to get your wattage. Make sure that number is lower than the rated load for your inverter and you should be good.

Found a few on ebay around the price range I was looking for, one is a little less wattage rating though...$70 300watt/600watt peak. Which is close to max of the 2amp (240watt).

Another $73 500watt/1000watt peak, but its 220volt.

Another one, 110v 500/1000watt

Might purchase one of these if they will get the job done. Do the pure sine wave inverters have any drawbacks, compared to regular ones other then price?
