I can get 20 to 21 in town if I keep it at about 40 mph and time the stoplights. If I don't have to idle too much and just drive normally around town, I usually get around 18 to 18.5.
Like I said I wasnt pointing you out, and again I cant verify anything that you say, so im not saying your are right or wrong. I dont see see 18-19 in the city unless you have 4x2 and are able to cruise and hit every stop light perfectly and never have to break, is it possible sure, realistic no.

If I took a photo of it and posted it, you would say it's rigged. It is realistic because it is real, week after week. I do have a 4x2 Supercrew, with 3.55s. When you make blanket statements about anyone saying they get that kind of mileage, it does point me out since I was one of those posting that mileage. You need to be more trusting of your fellow man.

Some things that help mileage in town. Try to avoid stopping at red lights, when in the bank drive-in, shut the engine off. Restarting takes less fuel than idleing. I do not drive like a granny and I have found that taking off with a medium throttle actually helps mpg. Staying in a lower gear drinks fuel so it is better to get up to speed and into OD fairly quickly.

I have never driven for mpg before and in fact knowingly killed the mpg of my 2005 with the mods I made. I went from 19.2 on the highway to 15-16. What changed my interest was the electronics. It provides me with a game to play, t gives me something to do.

good for you. And yes I wouldnt beleive a picture because how do I know when that was taken and the miles you drive.

Like I said IM a skeptic with what people publish as their MPG numbers, if you fall into that category so be it. Sounds like you spend a lot of time on your MPG and maybe you get that, anf if you do congrats, if true that is not the norm.

Question how do you avoid a stop light, if its red you stop.

You can't avoid all stop lights, but you time yourself. Instead of racing to the next light, you drive 40 or so and when you see one up ahead, you adjust your speed so you won't have to stop, if that's possible. Sometimes, traffic dictates that you can't do that. I am be no means a mileage fanatic and really have not changed my driving a whole lot. I used to do a lot of engine building and drag racing, so I do not enjoy wasting a lot of time, and one thing I can not tolerate is someone poking along, holding up traffic. That does not mean that I can't include a little common sense to improve the mpg rather than just waste it.

BTW, last night, a late model Chevy pickup gassed it from a light on the outskirts of a small town. I kept giving it gas up to 80 just to stay with him. I would have passed him if my wife had not been with me.

I do know in theory if you stay at the speed limit you are supposed to not hit the lights if you start out with green.
