I have a 201 XLT 4x4. I just got a Recon White Lightning tailgate light bar. I hooked it up to the 4 pin trailer plug for now until I get time to hard wire it. Everything but the white reverse light works fine until I splice the white wire into the positive reverse wire like the directions say. When I step on the brakes the the bar light doesn't work and when i put the signals on the whole bar blinks. Like I said before If I dont hook up the extra white wire for reverse everything is perfect. Anyone have any experience with these? Thanks in advance for any help.

For the brake light....you'll have to run a wire from the harness by the fuse box under the hood.Driver side, right on top of the wheel well. Not sure of the wire color on your model year, but on my 2010 is was a green wire.
I had to do that for the 3rd brake light on my cab. Don't think it be any different for your light bar.
Your dealer service department can tell you the color of the 3rd brake light wire.

 

I just installed recon light bar with amber turn signals on my 08 fx4 in order to make light bar work the right way had to run red wire from light bar to front of truck to a hot all the time ignition wire by steering column. plug into hitch then white to turn signal all works fine!!

 

wouldnt mess with hard wiring. I did and it was big mistake. Light broke mine was hard wired in, mess up my whole wire harness in the back, long story short got delear to replace the whole harness really only because there was a TSB out of my 08 on that. Just plug it in and be safe.
