Leaking Power Steering hose
I too have a Power Steering hose leak on my 2009 F-150. I just had it looked at by my local dealer, thank goodness I extended my warranty. It is covered, but and that's BIG BUT, the part is on back, back order and they are not sure when it will be in.
The really strange thing is that 2,276 are also on back order. Sounds a little funny that all those Power Steering parts are on back order, sounds like a re-call to me!!!
I guess you just have to carry power steering fluid with you, when it gets low, not sure what you are supposed to do, when the hose finally breaks!!! I don't want a car replacement while I wait for the part, I want a TRUCK!!!

Another update on my Power steering hose, I still do not have one yet and now it's only April. You would think Ford would have a RECALL on this item. Guess we aren't talking to the right people. I bet if it went to the press, we would get some answers. I have always bought Ford, but with this hose problem I am not sure. They could at least acknowledge that they have a problem and explain why they can't get replacement parts. I bet they came from Japan where the Big Tidal Wave hit!!!

I've got the same problem, The part has been on order since Feb.22 2012 and as of today, still no part but my driveway is getting decorated with patches of power steering fluid.
This is the last time I buy Ford. I bought the truck because of the implied 'reliability' that Ford had, previous Ford vehicles had always been reliable that I had used in the UK and over here in the USA.
It beggars believe that a company such as Ford cannot ensure adequate supply chain for a part that lacks little more complexity that a pressure hose or hydraulic hose?
Every time I have to use the vehicle I worry about be stuck at the side of the road or worse.
This really is poor customer service on the part of Ford and their dealerships!

"Buy another Ford " ? Yes , IIRC the newest ones have electric steering rather than hydraulic !!
Electric Power-Assisted Steering (EPAS)
Electrically power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering.
Power drawn only when needed
Speed-sensitive variable assist feature
Standard on all engines except 6.2L V8
This for F-150 2012

Certainly when an issue occurs during the warranty period with a component, you expect the vehicle manufacturer to still have an adequate supply of that component so that the vehicle can be repaired in a timely manner. When the issue is a component such as a steering component, drivetrain component, braking component a vehicle manufacturer should not be arrogant as to have waiting list for such components. The '09 Ford F150 is NOT a vintage collectible car that has been out of production for 50 years and such a part as a hose should not be so hard to come by as to have require it to be back ordered for weeks or for many months!

Could this be why the power steering hose is on backorder for so long? They're all going to fix Acura's and Accords in a massive Honda recall - and they don't have parts yet either.
