JL's 09 F-150 Build

Alright guys, so I got kind of bored and I'm one of those guys that love seeing a timeline of improvement of my truck and figured this is a place that I could see it for myself as well as get feedback from others be it good or bad. If you have questions about me or my rig- ask! I also play D2 paintball so that consumes a lot of my time and money on top of being a full time college student.

The story of this truck: Bought this truck in July of 2010. I was 17 and working 40 hours at a grocery store thinking I was on top of the world. I had about 14 grand saved up for a new truck and was looking something like a 04 F-150 to play around with. Ever since the 09 body style came out I was absolutely in love with them and when I saw one on the lot I could afford, I jumped on it. Since I was only 17 I of course had to have the lease under my parents name, but I made the down payment and have paid every driving bill since. After I picked up 3 more jobs, I now can afford the payments AND toys to put on it .

Now done with the boring crap, on to the mods, present and future!

The day I brought her home. 09 XLT SCREW V8 5.4 Sterling Grey

Christmas 2010 present from mom and pops: SmittyBilt nerf bars!

January 2011 purchase and install a K&N Cold Air Intake

With my graduation money in June of 2011 I installed a Flowmaster Super 40 Series. Soon to change to a Borla XS muffler. 3 inch tips SIDO. One of my good buddies dad owns a muffler shop and cut me a really good deal on it so I scooped it up! Not my favorite sound but it'll do!

Playing paintball at a high level I get left with a lot of gear from the previous years sponsorships. A guy I know traded me a 12 inch kicker and 1000 watt Planet Audio amp for a loader I had laying around- so I took it! Not a fan of how it sits in there, I will explain the system I plan on putting in down the page.

On November 11th, 2011 I got in a wreck. Two light bulbs I had sitting on the dash holder fell off after I went over a railroad track catching my attention, when I look up- BAM! SUV rear end.

So one good thing came out of the wreck. I got a Lariat grille and got fogs in the bumper!

So after the crash was all said and done it was mid December. Went with the family on a 3,000 mile roadtrip back up north. I've always hated my tire and rim combo so right before we left I picked up a pair of FX4 rims on CL for $250. I knew when I got back I would need to start saving for new shoes as the roadtrip would put the tires almost to the end of their life.

Today I finally purchased 4 Nitto Terra Grapplers size 285/65/18 (33's).

As she sat before I got the tires installed:

Nitto Terra Grapplers and FX4 rims

Autospring 2 inch level kit will be here tomorrow and installed Friday. Surprisingly no rub at full lock with the 33's!

FUTURE PLANS:

I will be DIYing my front headlights to replicate the HD headlights. I'm going to flat out buy the tail lights for I already ruined one tail light (Bought a new one) trying the method for the headlights on the tail lights only to find out the taillights are Sonic Welded and cannot come off that way.

SmittyBilt Light Bar with 4 fog lights:

Plan on very carefully cutting holes to put tow hooks in the front valence.

10% or 15% tint, don't want too dark but not as light as stock rear tint.

E-Fans: Not sure what size yet, will figure that out when it comes time.

As for my sound system, I will be fabbing up a box that holds 2 downfire pionner 10 inch subs with my current amp that won't stick out any from under the seat.

Maybe an Edge or Bullydog programmer.

Line X Bedliner

Just ordered LED's for my cab lights. Sizes are:
($3.53) Interior Map Lights (Front of Cab): (2x) 7-LED T10 Bulbs
($3.12) Rear Seat Dome Lights: (3x) 42mm 16-LED Festoon Bulbs

That's all I can think of as of now, any input is appreciated and thanks for reading! Will constantly keep this updated!

If you tinted the front windows, I think you would be overall really happy with it. I can't see inside my truck from the back or rear windows now that I have 35% on the fronts.

Forget the throttle body spacer, it's a waste of money.

If you get a programmer, I, and most of the website agree that power hungry performance and VMP tuning are the best for an f150 due to the fact that they offer custom tunes for you, and they are priced competitively with any other off the shelf programmer you can get.

Thank you kind sir, it's really humbling knowing it's all mine. Blood sweat and tears, whatever it takes to keep it away from the repo man!

I picked up a used XcalIII really cheap and had VMP email my custom tunes. Another option and way higher on the cool factor is the Gryphon from powerhungryperformance. Comes with the gauge pod, Newer models has the color screen. Can't go wrong either way.

Yeah back in June I was ready to pull the trigger on the gryphon but pulled back last second. I may look into one here shortly.

I found a Bullydog programmer locally really cheap. Has a screen and all that just not a guage pod.

I also have to order one of these

http://www.ebay.com/itm/F150-Pickup-...ht_1094wt_1185

When I got the fog lights the actual lights didn't come with it so I need to get that switch and figure out what bulbs/ wiring I need for it

Going to take off the valence panel tomorrow to see how it looks. Thoughts? And thanks!
