P2 Brake controller installed in the factory location - not thrilled with the outcome
I just installed a P2 brake controller in the location where the factory brake controller would normally be located. I am definately not thrilled with the outcome.
My 2011 XLT 4x4 SC did not come with a tow package so I have intalled aftermarket for most of the process. The hitch, wiring (at the back of the truck) and the controller wiring have turned out great, I am just not happy with the look of the controller in the dash "pocket".
Many thanks to Garrett for sending the "backup" pocket that I modified by cutting off the back to fit it in the dash. Glad I have the original, I think I will move the controller down below radio to the pocket in front of the manual transfer case.
Pics to come....

Two reasons for the P2 instead of factory, #1 I already had the P2 controller from another vehicle. #2 my truck did not come with the factory tow package, and the 2011+ trucks that dont have the tow package only have wiring for a 4-pole flat harness from the junction near the rear axle to the back of the truck. It was quite a bit cheaper to get an aftermarket 7-pin (RV style) than to get a new harness from Ford to complete the same circuit.

Here is where I put my P2
There are 5 screws holding this piece in, 2 behind the silver trim on the left and right and 1 behind the Sync. I drilled a 1" hole on the back for the wire harness and attached the controller with some super duty velcro.
My 2011 has both the 4 & 7 pin plugs next to the hitch.

You first carefully pull back the silver panels on the left and right, then use a nut driver to unscrew the pocket piece where the controller will go, this will allow you to pop the dash panel loose. You can then get behind to pop the Sync panel out.

Thanks. That is the same place I am planning on installing my P2 controller.

So I am doing the same thing. I already had the controller from my Cayenne that I traded for the F 150. So in the non tow package truck where does the blue wire from the under dash connector exit to from the console? Does it come below the cab somewhere or do I have to splice into it and fish it through to the outside?
