I agree that most people driving F150's aren't going to be getting this kind of mpg, and it is a stetch for Ford to claim these numbers. It's not impossible though. It would be nice if they advertised real world numbers. If every company were to advertise real world expectations, we'd be a lot less excited about buying thier products.
Most of us can get better mpg. You've got to make an effort to do so though.

32mpg Canadian is about 26mpg US. Use the configuration that ruffn-it mentioned in post #3, and it's entirly possible to achieve 32 Canadian, 26 US mpg.

I traded up from a 2008 FX4 with a 5.4, I got about 18mpg (Imperial) highway with it. I figured if my 2011 could pull off even 25-26highway mpg I'd be making a good choice...

How about this for a TV ad?
I didn't know buying a Ford will kill you.

You beat me to it. The current test in Canada is similar to the pre 2007 test we had in the US. Starting in MY2008 the test was changed to be more accurate to real driving conditions. This took a few MPGs off the stated mileage. From what I remember the 2011 F-150 is rated at 23 with a 2wd 3.7, 22 with a 2wd EB and 21 with a 4wd EB. Options add weight which will cut into the mileage too. I *can* knock off low 20s on my 4x4 Platinum EB (about as heavy of F-150 Ford makes) but the extra pressure I put on the skinny peddle knocks me back to 17-18.

This brings to mind the recent case of the woman in California who opted out of the class action suit against Honda for false economy claims, and took them to small claims court. She was awarded 10k.

In this case, Ford is using the numbers Transport Canada provided via their economy testing. The problem is the test is not accurate.

A ridiculous ad for Chevy (I'd rather die in a Ford than live in a Chevy) and a real-world atta-boy for Ford....
