Why Purchase and FX2?

Why Purchase and FX2?
This is not a question from me. The topic was brought up when I was hanging out with some friends. For the record I was defending FX2 owners
I know the FX package is one of the best interior designs, this is my opinion. I am assuming that's why FX2 owners buy this model. My friends were asking why buy an FX2 over the FX4 and why would Ford put the FX2 decal on rather than a decal that just says FX. Another person asked why would somebody broadcast that their truck is 2wd when the FX4 is "more truck". I said they don't want a 4X4 but they like the FX package and the price difference is rather significant.
I own a 2010 FX4 and love the truck, but I am curious as to why people purchase the FX2, other than not wanting 4X4 or liking the interior appearance. Would any FX owners (2 or 4) care to provide some insight?

So why didn't they buy the XLT or Lariat 2WD models? The Lariat would provide more luxury features and I've heard a much better ride than an FX2. Again I'm curious as to why people purchase an FX2 other than not wanting 4X4.

My brother did not like the fake wood in the Lariat and obviously the XLT does not have center console shift.

The reasoning is not the same. I got an fx4 because of the standard 3.73 gears and locking diff, and it's 4X4. But this is not about me, just trying to find answers for some of the questions I've been hearing.

Alot of people that live in/near cities don't have a need for 4x4 and don't want to spend the extra cash, but still want the convenience of having a truck. The usefulness of having 4x4 is all dependent on the buyers needs, so why pay extra for it if you don't need it? The extra MPG looks good to some people I'm sure as well
