2014 F150 worth the wait?

I understand all that. My point is, I think many have accepted it as real, a nice brainwashing. I am getting better than the sticker numbers with my engine and have noticed that most of the 5.0 owners posting have gotten as good or better than the EB. Maybe Ford knows there is more potential with the EB, I don't know. Maybe it just isn't living up to it's hype in that area, but my point is, people are buying it expecting to get exceptional mpg, and it's just not there. My boss got 14 in a headwind on a 6 hour interstate drive. Coming back with a tailwind, 18. I guarantee, my 5.0 would beat the crap out of that. His comment, "oh well, I love the truck anyway even though the mileage is no better than my Tundra got."
Now, I did not buy the 5.0 expecting great gas mileage, but, it's there and I am certainly enjoying it as the price goes up.

Funny you say that, I saw on the news the other day that alot of people are complaining that a lot these Eco friendly cars aren't getting anywhere close to advertised mileage. They were telling everyone to go by the American gas mileage because our way isn't always accurate.

Dumb thing is that the mpg indication on Canadian vehicles is in US mpg.....which is why I'm in L/100km all the time.
And my EB mpg is about where I expected it to be.....less than the Canadian EPA numbers!

You all must not be reading his post the same way I am. He is saying the gas mileage is important and the discussion following is discussing if the engines get the actual advertised or is real life something else? To me it's very relevant to his question. What has come out is, if you baby it, you can get the mileage, drive it the way most of us do, no, better, but not the hyped number.
Regardless, I don't see any reason to wait. As someone stated, if you kept waiting on what next year will bring, you would never buy.

Knowing whether it is worth the wait is entirely speculation until we actually know what is coming. For all we know the next generation truck could be disgusting. I'm sure there were people in 1971 pondering if they should pull the trigger on a new 429 Super Cobra Jet Mustang, or if it would be worth the wait for another three years to see what the upcoming 1974 Mustang II would be. Newer is not guaranteed to be an improvement. If you like what's currently available, just buy it.

So far, i am knocking down nicer numbers around town with my EB than i did on a recent long highway trip .
I mentioned it in another post, but i drove 1000 highway miles and averaged around 17.9 per the truck's computer. Speed was between 70-80 and since it was in TX and OK, it was always windy.
Just messing around town and trying to baby it, the figures are staying around 20.
With the price of gas now, i don't mind driving a little bit like a grandma if i am on a non work related trip. I tried to baby it a bit when i first started out on the aforementioned road trip, but i quickly got bored and needed to at least maintain the speed limit to stay awake
My version of "around town" is Norman, OK -- a suburb of Oklahoma City that involves lots of open roads and not too many instances of just sitting around idling -- if i lived in a real city, i would expect my mileage to be much less
The EB is a pretty neat engine and the new truck has some cool bells and whistles, but honestly - i wouldnt have upgraded if it werent for the fact that my '05 had a ton of miles on it - my 5.4liter was a good engine and the price i paid for the new truck would have bought a bunch of gas for the old one.

Nope, ---- nor do they ever try to slip in a $2500 "maintenance agreement" in the finance office without telling you about it either.
They will just assume you will be glad to finance 33,000 instead of the 30,500 you agreed to.
(note: this just happened to me --- read all the fine print before you leave the finance office . I didnt catch it until a couple days later, - thankfully there is an out in their so-called maintenance contract if you cancel within 30 days with no penalty. As well, a $750 owner loyalty bonus was conveniently forgotten about.
several phone calls later, plus another trip to the dealership, and this was squared away -- plus got a $750 check from the dealership within a few days ----I bet they try to do this to everybody and probably succeed quite often -- thank you *********** Ford - im going to refrain from naming names unless another local OKC area consumer pm's me, then i'll kiss and tell -- )
