2014 F150 worth the wait?

By that logic you will never be buying a new vehicle. There is always something better on its way.....

i think the OP's question will just float in the air till 2013 comes around the rumors become facts....i bought my '08 early in the 2008 year, despite the fact that the 2009 were already coming out. for particular reasons, sure it would have been nice to buy a new model but ever since i was in high school and the 04 body rolled in i was sold

Since the OP appears to have an 04, then I believe if he's already longing for a new ride, then he should pull the trigger now. I had an 04 and jumped to the 09 when it came out, even though Ford stated that new engines in development would not be ready until MY2011. No one knows what the '14 model will look like and we're still two years away from finding out. And the Ecoboost will probably be the same as some "insiders" have mentioned it already puts out as much HP/TQ that the block/heads/turbos can support reliably for the expected life-span of the vehicle (200,000 hard miles+); note: I'm am not saying that more power can't be made from the Ecoboost, but that Ford can't squeeze out more reliably while maintaining long life and fuel economy. The 5.0, on the other hand, may see a performance boost.

Probably not with Ford recently jacking up the price of the EB. Between CAFE and the extra money they charge for the EB, why would they improve the 5.0 to a point where it is the equivalent of the EB? Not hating on the 5.0, and not saying it can't be done, and most definitely not trying to jack this thread into a another silly 5.0 vs 3.5EB debate, just looking at it from a marketing maggot perspective.

An engine typically is the most fuel efficient if driven at it's peak torque RPM, or close to it. So by improving torque in the "cruising" RPM ranges, you can squeeze more mileage. A win-win for Ford in both CAFE and performance, especially if this is coupled with the rumored 8-speed.
But it all comes down to R&D costs versus return on investment...

Are any members on here getting the mpg advertised for the EB. The majority I have seen post are posting lower numbers than I am getting with my 5.0. My boss has an EB, and I get better mileage than he does, as well. If he did not have the 4X4 I suspect we would be pretty much the same. My point is, I hear all this rhetoric about the great mileage of an EB and so far, it has been mostly on the sticker. Just an observation, so any refuters, keep it civil.
