I bought my 2012 F150 Today!
I just got back from the dealer with my 2012 F150 XL. Standard Cab 8ft bed. 3.7L.
Simple, stripped down and ready for me to put it to work hauling around tools, ladders and other random crap.
I averaged 22.6 mpg on the drive home. A mix of highway and street. Seeing that average moving up and down encouraged me to keep my right foot under control.
During my test drive I cut it lose and wow was I surprised. This thing has waaay more pop than my 5.4. I guess it could be partialy because the xl is lighter....I had a 2005 super cab Fx4, Loaded with every single toy available.
The dealership hooked me up. 6yr 100,000 mile bumper to bumper, 1.9% for 84 months (thats a long loan) It will keep my payments cheaper though. Only 279 a month on a brand new truck.
This is the first time I have ever purchased a brand new vehicle. I love it so far, even though I have only put 28 miles on it.

Congrats on the new truck!
I've had a 3.7 F150 for just over a year now. I'm pretty happy with it. Sometimes I wish I had V8 torque. I've got pretty damn fuel economy for a full size truck.
If I drove my F150 like I drive the '07 5.4 E250 that I drive for work, I wouldn't be averaging 20mpg. If you're going to use your truck for work, you might not see 20mpg averages. It'll still be good for a full size truck, if you can drive conservatively.
Enjoy the truck. Keep us informed on how it works for you.

I wont be doing any towing. Mostly just hauling tools around and random materials.
I will have it paid off in 4 or 5 years. I did it that way to keep my payments lower. I feel secure with my job now, but you never know what the future holds. Id hate to get laid off work and have a $400 truck payment.
I can take some pictures. Its just a white XL with the steelies. No chrome anywhere, THANK GOD
All I want to do to it is tint the windows, paint the wheels black and put a tool box in the back. Maybe ladder racks.
I do plan on putting my own cd player in. Its crazy they charge $400+ for the stero upgrade.

It's also because the current F-150 has a 6 speed and the 04-08 has a 4 speed auto.

Congrats! But we're gonna need some pics!
I got a 5 year loan on my truck to keep the payments down also for a "just in case" moment. Just make the $400+ month payment on it so you'll get out from under it faster. Then if something does happen with your job you'll be ahead on your payments then make the minimum.

Yep loving the truck. I drove it to work today. I had to go to home depot to get 8 8ft 1x3's. It was nice to be able to just throw them in the back without them hanging out at all.
I traded in my 05 and my Motorcycle to get the truck.
Going with the ford was a no brainer. I have owned 7 fords. This one makes number 8
I have had less problems with the 8 fords combined than the ones I had with my Chryslers and Chevrolets.
I will take pictures if it ever stops raining.
Heres a list of the cars I owned if you care to read it. I am 25 by the way
I changed up my rides quite a bit to this point.
98 Mustang
03 SVT Focus
89 Taurus
04 Taurus
84 SVO Mustang
93 Ranger
05 F150 FX4
Chrysler products
72 Charger - first car
00 Plymouth Voyager - Wifes
06 Chrysler town and country - Currently the wife's
Chevrolet
92 Camaro RS
95 Camaro

My dad bought a 93 XL with the 300 brand new and put 180k on it before selling it. He bought a chevy with a utility bed and had a ton of issues with it. Got rid of it and got a 06 F250 with a utility bed. Problem free with it so far.
