I have actually been a member for a number of years as I really like what ford was doing with their trucks. however for the past 15 years I have always driven a GM. Some of that loyalty was due in part to the GM Employee discount I married into. I finally decided to jump ship and give the ford a try. Purchased a loaded 2012 4x4 lariat with the 5.0. I was planning to go ecoboost but the rebates were much less in my area so I decided to take advantage of the money. I must say I am very happy with the vehicle. Nothing really terrible to say about GM, I think they make decent vehicles but in my opinion the interior leaves a lot to be desired compared to the ford. Motor wise not a lot of seat time to compare the 5.0 to the GM 5.3. May all be in my head but it certainly feels like a much more powerful motor. I believe the 5.3 was only rated at 315 hp compared to the 360 hp 5.0.

As far as power goes, my supercab fx4 vs. an 05 z71 i pulled 2 lengths on him from a 60-85 mph run.


do you have a pocket below the shifter on the console on the drive side?

congrats on the truck, looks great. Yes, your 5.0L will murder the gm 5.3L. I think Fords 3.7L V6 is basically neck & neck with chebbies 5.3L performance wise in recent testing.

It does not have a pocket. Kind of appears that way in the pic but it doesn't. There is one on the passenger side.

 

That's what i figured (how mine is) but i know some ford model has a pocket below so it would have been nice if they did that in the f150 as well. that pocket on the passenger side kinda sucks, would have rather had it on the driver side

 

Yeah, my F250 had the pocket on the driver side. This FX looks like it should and I was playing with it like it should come out. Then I deduced that it must be the floor shifter. I didn't even give GM a thought and I grew-up in a GM dealership. I did think about Dodge though, and Tundra.

 

Get some rubber floor mats.....

I left GM products about 7 years ago and I am never going back...

Unless someone gives me a new Cadillac or a Vette....
