Did about $700 worth of damage when I decided to detail my superdutys engine. First and last time Ill be doing that lol. Apparently its pretty common with fords once they get a few years on them.

 

Sorry to hear that. More specifics please? What exactly did you fry/short/irrigate?

 

I agree with you all the way. I have always rinsed everything off to get it all wet. Spray everything down with simple green and let sit. As mentioned above any heavily oiled areas actually get in there and scrub clean. Rinse off and then take a towel and dry off all the plastics and areas you can reach. As mentioned above don't directly spray areas you don't want to get wet, this is where people have problems.

 

Take a can of WD40 with you...it'll displace the water in those areas if necessary.

 

Been so long since I washed an engine, I had forgotten that trick. Thanks for the reminder. Never washed the 5.4 as the COPs were prone to go bad after getting wet.

 

I spray my 07 5.4 all the time 0.o never had a problem Jim but I have heard that people cover up some things
