Alot of the guys are getting the $1000 trade in assistance, you want below xplan as well on price.
You also have to shop around dealers, i contacted no less than 15. Only 1 was willing to do below invoice, which turned out to be the only dealer in the state of texas w/ a candy red scab fx4
I also did not have any of those dealerships give the me the same rebates even though they are set by ford. One was giving me $4500 while the others were giving me 3k. Not sure if any one else had this happen to them as well or not.

some tell you invoice price which is w/ in a few hundred usually of the actual invoice so checking it is not pointless if your dealer is being a PIA and won't give you invoice on the truck you are looking at.

true but I dont think kbb or nada or really give invoice price. Good rule of thumb is take 2-4 grand off the sticker depending on what it is and thats invoice.

I looked a good while and was never able to get more than about $7k off of sticker, no matter which trim I was looking at with the options I wanted (FX4, Lariat, XLT, etc.). At the time (January), there were about $4500 in rebates, seems to be a little less now. The only time I've ever really seen $10k off was on eBay and those are generally for a really loaded up FX4 or Lariat with navigation and everything and even then they're in the high $30's (Sticker is about $48-50k on a completely loaded FX4/Lariat).
I got a price at a local dealer on a few trucks and then found out I could get X-plan; turns out that X-plan is actually above invoice and they were doing straight invoice minus rebate numbers already, so the X-plan number was actually higher.

Know what rebates are available to you. For instance I did my deal over the internet and phone with the internet salesman. When I showed up at the dealer he was off, so I had to deal with another salesman and the business manager. They came to me and said that they needed to get a hold of the other salesman because they are loosing 2k on the deal and cant figure out why the quote I got was so low. Anyway the guys at the dealership just didn't know what rebates the internet salesman was using to get 11k off MSRP. I noticed this when checking around that some dealers dont know all the rebates available. Also, some will quote you a lower price and include rebates you dont qualify for just to get you into the dealership.
I got the 4k in Ford rebates (xlt package, 5.0 rebate, bonus cash) everything available to anyone. Then $1k in Ford credit and $750 for trade in. My total rebates were 5750 taken off the invoice price of 37300 on a truck that had MSRP of $42620
There are even more rebate that I did not qualify for such as $500 for college grad, $500 military, and $500 for driving a ford ranger
