2010 SCREW 6.5 ft. bed

So I'm kicking around the idea of buying 6.5' SCREW. I know, I know, it looks like a school bus ate a limo and threw up a train. I did however, find one on the interwebs that had a 6" lift and 35" Toyo's and it looked nice.

I'm trying to figure out what one would look like with just a 2-3" leveling kit and 33's. Anyone have pics??? I fear that it may still look like the clumsy awkward guy from HS if it's not lifted enough.

Also, don't want to start a holy war here, aside from being a PITA to park, what's everyone's take on the 6.5' vs 5.5' beds.

I don't need it for work, I don't haul big stuff, etc.

Thanks.

I dont think the 6.5s are awkward looking at all... the 8 foot beds look a little nerdy though. if you dont have the need and never will to haul anything longer than 5.5 feet than 5.5 is the way to go. mine has the 5.5 and i wish i had the 6.5 so i could fit my atv and still close the tailgate.

I think the 6.5's look better on the lifted rigs. There's tons of pictures of what your asking for on this forum, just do a search in the 09+ section.

Agree. Ruffin-It's truck is one of the best looking trucks on the site.

6.5' bed way to go if you actually need a truck bed. 5.5' bed for me would have been worthless. As far as parking.... its only 21' feet long and no more difficult than a 145" WB truck to park. A 3/4 or 1 ton screw long bed, now that's a PITA to park. My advice to you, buy what you need. There are so many new screw's on the road and I only see about 10% of those being long beds as most people don't have a need for that length of a bed (most people that own trucks probably don't have a consistent need for a pick-up). My quad goes in the back nicely and that was my motivation for the added length. I am also lucky because my garage is 26' feet deep and fits nicely with clearance all the way around. All of the 09+ Ford's look great lifted!

Goodluck with your search and purchase!

Although Im happy with my 5.5 bed I wish I would of held out and found a truck with the 6.5 bed. I think the long beds look really good with a level and even better with a lift. Ruffn-it your truck looks great!

Just my $.02, but that's why I got a Scab with the 6.5' bed - I wanted *some* interior space for luggage or whatever, but still wanted the 6.5' bed - and I've used that extra foot of space in the bed on multiple occasions!

That, and it fits in a normal parking spot in the DC metro area.

Agree with everything said! I got the Supercrew with the 6.5' bed and I love it! easy to drive, handles well and def looks better lifted or even leveled. The only problem i have is it doesnt make it in the garage by less than 1 foot lol. oh well, win some lose some. sure is nice puttings stuff in the bed with the tailgate up!

I love the idea of the 6.5 bed on a screw, but I just didn't need it so I ordered a 5.5'. To me they both look good, but i went for ease of parking and saved a little $$ on the sticker price. I was originally gonna order a Scab with the 6.5', but figured I'll have passengers more often than hauling stuff in the bed. So far it's worked out fine. I had all my camping gear loaded (using the bed extender) on one trip. Most common is for me is mountain bike riding and I can still mount my mountain bike standing up along with the tailgate being up, just need to kick the rear tire to the side a little.

I have a cross box in my 6.5' and with a shorter bed it is almost useless. Sure it doesn't park as well, but it pulls heavier trailers nicer with the longer wheelbase.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I haven't had to use the full 6.5ft to haul large things that much, but the few times I have it was nice to be able to just close the tailgate rather then letting the cargo just stick out. I came from an 01 screw with the 5.5ft, and i'm pleased with this set up. Its also nice to be able to completely lay down in the bed (I have a bed rug) with the tailgate up for camping and such.

Appreciate the responses and insight. Ruffn-it's truck has convinced me to go with the longer bed. I will dream of your truck tonight my man.

6.5' all the way!! I will never understand why anyone would buy a 5.5' bed and then complain about not being able to haul stuff. A 5.5' bed looks like you got rear ended and your left with an all squished up bed, kinda like an accordion. However, a CC with a 6.5' bed looks way better because it's more even since the back is the same length as the front. Get a real pickup with a real 6.5' bed. Otherwise, you might as well get a car with a giant trunk if all you want is a 5.5' bed...

Sorry I didn't buy a "real" pick up. I haven't needed the extra 1' yet. You're right, a Taurus will handle my mountain bike, moving washer and dryer for friends, picking up landscape trees and bushes, etc.. Looks like I'll be getting a SHO because I want to keep the EcoBoost.
