Smile New member with a new truck!

First let me say that this forum is awesome, and I have no idea why I'm just joining now. Such a great collection of knowledge. My name is Chris. I've been a Ford guy all my life. Lot of family members have worked and still work for the blue oval. After much debate, and research, I finally picked up a new F-150 so I could stop drooling over them. Took a few months and a lot time, but I finally pulled the trigger.

My truck is a 2012 XLT 4X4 SuperCrew with the EcoBoost. It's got the Chrome, XLT Plus, and Convenience packages. Only other options I wanted were the center console instead of the front bench, and the trailer brake. Heavily debated my engine choice as I'm an 8-cylinder guy. I'll gladly substute the rumble of a V8 for the sound of those twin-turbos

Don't think I have plans to mod. As much as I'd love to put on a set of BFGs and a level, I don't mind her stock. I tinted my windows 20% and put on a tonneau cover. And of course, my stickers to the rear to have some fun with my fellow Dodge-owning friends!

One question I'm hoping someone can answer. When do I start seeing this "great gas mileage"? I've got nearly 2,000 miles on her and am averaging about 13 MPGs. I've heard something about better increase once its broken in around 3K. I'm just curious as I've had other EcoBoost owners approach me with the same question. I went with the 3.5L instead of the 5.0 for the gas aspect.

Thanks and sorry for the ramble! Here's a few shots of my new girl up north and one of my other toy

Chris

Welcome Chris! Good looking truck!

That sentence: "Don't think I have plans to mod." Doesn't make sense in my head... but good luck with it and hide the wallet!

As far as the MPG problem, I can't really help you. But you may want to try and do a search on the site to see if anyone else has had the same problem. Or if all else fails, post a thread asking about it specifically in the v6 engine section.

That's really weird. You and I have identical trucks. I just went over 1200 miles and am averaging 17.2 around town. I hope it gets better for you.

Trust me, it's easy to say now that I've just made the purchase not too long ago. Once I start freein' up some cash, I'll most likely be saying otherwise. This was the wrong place to come for someone who "doesn't plan to mod". Thanks for the welcome. Beautiful truck by the way!

Chris

Welcome aboard and nice truck! Good luck not modding your truck! As far as the MPG I averaged 18.5 for the first 5k miles and the last 4k I have averaged 19.2. I do A LOT of open road driving though. I always tell people mine came equipped with the no bailout package.

Nice truck and welcome! I am not an EB expert but I dont think 13 mpg is good at all. I get 15 mpg and I don't go easy on the gas. Good luck on not modding your truck... I said the same thing in April when I just got it and already can't stop looking for what do change.

Hi Chris! Just curious which rear axel do you have? I have the same truck on order waiting for delivery. I ordered the 3.55 electronic lock rear axel. I'll let you know how mine does once it arrives.
