EcoBoost Dipstick Rant
#16
The motor is mounted as low as feasible to keep the CG lower. For a vehicle as tall as an F-150 it means the dipstick will be low in the engine compartment. The other alternative would be to make it stupid long and route it up high. That would lead to more bends and chance for it to buckle when you're pushing it back in the hole.
I'm 5'7" and just stand on the inside of the bumper. Underneath the plastic cover is a big bunch of metal made to absorb the impact of a front end collision. Compared to this my 160# ain't nothing.

Y'know, these trucks must be good when we're down to complaining aboot dipsticks and tight oil filters

I'm glad I'm 6'2"! I have to stand on my tip toes and stretch but I can reach it. Have to be careful not to scratch the fender paint.

Borrow Mama's apron, that'll take care of that problem. Course she probably wouldn't appreciate the oil on it when she got it back!

I'm 6'-0" and can reach the stick ok from over the fender. Its not the easiest reach, but I dont need a stool or tip toes. It must be all you guys having stubby arms......
