Red face 2013 FX4 Ordered

  • Oxford White
  • 6.5 foot bed
  • Super Cab
  • 5.0 V8
  • 402A Equipment Group (Luxury)
  • Navigation

Prices:
  • FX4 - $38,765 (Invoice $35,179)
  • 402A - $5,420 (Invoice $4,621)
  • Navigation - $795 (Invoice $678)
  • Total Out the door price everything included - $39,458.31

A few notes about this. The 402A equipment group is required in order to order Navigation. This group includes HID headlights, heated/cooled leather seats, rearview camera, reverse sensing , ... I really wanted just Navigation, but had to get 402A. I declined the Moon roof for an additional $500.

Roughly speaking, I got the truck for $2000 under invoice. I felt like it was an OK deal and I am satisfied with it. I didn't try reducing it any more than this. It may have been possible, but I don't like getting into unpleasant interactions. It was fair enough as it.

Buyer Be Ware

The first dealer I went to quoted me the following:
  • FX4 - $47,455 (Invoice $43,702)

I believe he was lying to me. Ford hasn't published prices yet, but based on information from other dealers, he was lying. To top that off, he gave me a talk about if I wanted ethical honest dealings, I'd have to deal with him! He said that the other dealers would cheat me out of money. When I said $40,000 flat for the vehicle he gave me his number and said he'd go as low as $43,000. Keep in mind, this is exactly the same optioned vehicle.

One other note:

I've been running into the attitude that dealers won't work on a good deal for you if you don't buy off the lot. If you want to order from the factory (exactly as you want it), you'll pay more. That may be partially true, but based on my experience, I'd say dealers (at least one) will work with you on a decent price even if you are ordering from the factory.

I have been very curious to find out what pricing is for the 2013's. Are you sure about the sunroof? It seems like that has been a $1k option forever.....

Yes I am positive. The new package deal for 2013 is that if you get Navigation, they will throw in the Moon Roof for $500.

How very interesting. I wasnt really considering nav myself, but you can either get nav for $795, the sunroof for $995, or you can get both for $1295? for an extra $300 or so, that is completely worth it. I am still to used to the current model year, where the nav is excessively overpriced.

Thanks. Astronomy is a hobby of mine and I had a Subaru Outback which had too little volume for my scopes and equipment. I had to get a truck. I previously had a Silverado which I sold to get the Subaru. Then the hobby took off and I was back to needing a truck. But, and this is a big difference, the FX4 is a much better vehicle. I love the Navigation and the immersive qualities of the technology.

The package pricing was changed. In 2012 the FX Luxury package was $2,325 and the Navigation was $2,470 (total of $4795). Now the Luxury package is $5,420 and the Navigation is $795 (total $6,215). Not sure this is a valid comparison, since 2013 Luxury package is different from that of 2012.

In my opinion, these prices are somewhat nonsense since you aren't expected to pay them. Instead it is like a game where the dealer can say here is the price (and you are in disbelief) and then he says I am going to give you a deal and drop the prices $4000. What a great guy! Thanks! In the end, all that matters is what the final price is. So option your vehicle as you like and see what you can get it for. When you are done it is tough to say what you paid for Navigation.

When I said I was $2000 under invoice, the math above doesn't add up. The reason is that in addition to what I listed, there were also the following charges:

Fuel Charge: $134.28
ADV Assessment: $660.00
Dest and Delivery: $995.00

These were a part of the original price. So I am over $2000 under the entire Invoice price plus the above charges.

Hi, First post here. You got a good deal from all appearances. (which dealer you use?) I am in Houston...there are a lot of dealers here....but not sure if they will negotiate a deal like the one you received.

I am also looking to order a 2013 FX4 or Lariat. I could not get a clear answer from a dealer (he wanted to sell me a 2012) if the F250 style power telescoping tow mirrors are available on a FX4 or if that is an option that is only offered for the XLT, Lariat, KR, etc.. I need to have the payload capacity via the max payload option...so the Raptor was out of the picture.

You actually paid those? I've been with people (mostly my dad) for about 5-6 brand new car purchases, and hes never paid for the first tank of gas, or the destination/delivery charge. He always tells the dealer to pay it or hes leaving. Its always seemed to work.

The Powerfolding Tow Mirrors are available on FX Luxury, Lariat, King Ranch and Platinum.

I'd love to see the power folding tow mirrors become available on XLT, some day.

I agree, but it will probably never happen. It just provides more incentive for the buyer to step up a trim level, which is what ford wants. I am interested to see if the new powerscopes are (relatively) cheap, and if all trucks come prewired to support them. If so, should b pretty reasonable to add them on an XLT.

They offer the telescoping powerfolding tow mirrors on XLT for SuperDuty.
I would step up to a Lariat if they offered a Lariat F-150 with an 8' bed.

Congrats on the new truck! Are there 2013's on the road already? I saw what looked to be a 2013 F150 Tuscany last night in town with the new HID headlights and LED tail lights.

That's what I thought as well. The truck pulled through the intersection in front of me and I know those were the 13' HID headlights and what looked like LED tail lights (but didn't think that was an option)

I need to find this truck and take some pictures...
