How loud is too loud (moonroof)

I didn't have a moonroof on either the '09 or '11 F150's I owned but this '12 has one. Unless I have the shade drawn though I notice it's a little noisy. Even at <40 mph it's a little distracting. Is it normal?

-I know it's kind of objectionable to ask how loud something is when you can't actually hear it yourself but if yours is perfectly silent then that might send me back to the dealer to see if they can get mine a little quieter.

I haven't noticed any noise from mine unless the roof is open, but I almost always have the shade shut when the roof is shut.

Have you tried only opening it part way? Also, did you notice it has 2 positions (first is supposed to be quietest) and then you can manually open it even further (another couple inches) which I believe is going to be noisier than the first position.

Good suggestions - I'll open and close it a few times to check it all out. I had tilted and slid it open and then verified it was completely closed. It's very quiet when the shade is drawn but unless the sun is directly over me then I'd like to enjoy the moon roof and it's hard to do with the wind noise. Nothing else is wrong with the truck so I didn't want to take it in unless you guys were saying yours was silent (with the shade open). Looks like if I have to ask I should just take it in to be sure.

You're talking about wind noise, not mechanical? Play with different positions on your windows and sunroof. Sometimes just the slightest movement of a window or two can change the wind noise dramatically.

Try cracking the rear slider a bit to minimize air buffeting, worked on my Superduty.
