Just over 600 miles on it and...
I got hit by a mustang that drove off... The golden bronze F150 that i searched for and just bought 5 days ago has minor damage on the rear bumper. Apparently the bumper is only 3 peices? Anyway, gives me an excuse to get them color matched now. There is a bright side to everything...

I can relate to your pain... but as you said, if you look for it there is a silver lining... my incident resulted in a free linex spray in.
The rear bumper is 4 main pieces. The plastic cap across the top, 2 chrome metal pieces (1 on each side), and your trailer hitch in the center. I'm all too familiar with mine.

I would have chased him right down. Sorry for your misfortune, but the bright side of PTM is always good!
Would the new style bumper fit on my 2007 ( '06 - '08 3 bolt per side model ) truck?

The 09+ bumper is also held on by 3 bolts per side. #11 in the first diagram goes into the C-channel on each side of #7, attaching #7 to #10. #10 basically caps off the rear end of the truck's frame rail.
#1 is connected to #7 using only small hardware & sadly they both rely on #13 (which also connects to #7) to make them more rigid.

It eventually happens to us all.
Ford dealer in Milan allowed me to take delivery of a 'transporter' damaged unit w/ knowledge the damage was done.
I didn't find the damage until 3 days later and of course the dealer denied the unit was damaged so I was responsible for the $2,000 repair to my brand new 1978 $6,200 E-150. (Full sized Van but all vans were 'full sized' back then.)
I never could afford to have it fixed correctly back then, so I drove a damaged unit from the dealer for 10 years or so.
The experience DID teach me to inspect ANY new vehicle I've bought since really well in a bay with bright lights and plenty of room to open all the doors and carefully go over it for 1/2 hour before I take delivery.
But even that doesn't prevent WATER INTRUSION on new FORD vehicles which FORD is well aware of but prefers to do nothing to prevent it.
Keep an eye on your high brake light guys. Good idea to carry some towels with you to sop up some of the water if/when the high brake light seal fails. That gasket is all that's keeping buckets of water out of the cab because of the terrible design of the body cavity indentation for the high lite.
