First Big Tow With My 2011 F150 4x4 SCREW 6.2
My New 2011 F150 Lariat 4x4 has 5000 miles on it and I took it this week on its first big pull in our Arizona High Country over 400 miles and it performed like a Champion! I was impressed with the way it pulled my 10,000 lb plus toy hauler. Very stable in handling, the transmission was great going up and down the hills. That 6.2 is a real work horse! Took those hills with power to spare! Hardly had to use any extra braking on the steep inclines. You have to love that Select Speed shifting. Watching the transmission temperatures on a long 7% grade it peaked once at 240 Degrees and dropped off quickly once I crested the top. Average temps were in the 200-210 range. I might add it was a 100 degree day and the AC performed well too.
The fuel consumption was very good too for the load I was pulling. On the 400 mile up and down the hills I averaged 8.4 miles per gallon. I could not be more pleased! I could not believe the difference in towing with this truck when I compared it to my old 2007 Silverado Crew with 6.0 and 4 Speed Transmission. If Chevy is going to get back in the game they have their work cut out. This Ford is hard to beat!
