If you consider the cost of those three wires plus the labor to supply and install them, plus the added savings of eliminating the driver side grab handle on the new model, it all adds up, quickly.

Now they only prime the bottom of the doors instead of finished paint.

They are eliminating door sill protectors, they already eliminated wheel well liners.

Only I don't think the consumer benefits from the cost savings measures implied.
