Most of the dealerships around here use autotrader as a baseline. Free quotes from autotrader might be your best bet.

Looking at the nada values on your truck I'd say you should expect most dealers to hit between 33 and 34k. You might get lucky and get the full 36k trade in for it though, so always helps to haggle... nothing to lose.

You'd be lucky to get 30k. Another common rule of thumb is take a grand or 2 off KBB "good" trade-in rating. You can have the cleanest truck alive and they'll only give you a good rating because of dealer prep, etc..

I just did my truck and "excellent" was 31k and good was 30k, and I have 10k miles on mine

or just depends on the dealer and the numbers games they play on the price of the new truck. I say just do your research online as far as trade values and how much people have been reportedly getting a discount off new truck prices including available rebates, and then figure out the total difference you would be comfortable in paying and then go shop around at different dealers. Depending on how they write up the deal, the price "on paper" for your trade may be meaningless.

for my last deal in 09, on paper I got what equaled to $3k over KBB excellent condition for my trade and $7k off the price of the new truck.

Take it to Carmax and see what they will give you. In this part of the country, CarMax way overpays for good clean used trucks.

Wow, trucks are just not big movers out here I guess. My last three trucks no dealer would budge over "good" KBB. If you tell them your x-plan you are especially screwed. My new trick is to negotiate the trade and new vehicle. Lock in the trade and "all of a sudden remember my work offers some kind of plan" and then drop the pin # on them. Otherwise they try to get extra money by offering crap on your trade with xplan.
